ya i got waitlisted by NW...so....but is there any thing i can do to strengthen my profile and stand myself out from the rest so theres a better chance of me getting in later?

you could accept a spot on the wait list and then send them any updates that you think would be beneficial.. they start to pull from the weight list after May 1, so you need to make a deposit to another college by that date; but if Northwestern ends up accepting you, you could inform the other college that you've changed your mind, and then pay your deposit to Northwestern (note: I don't believe you'll get your other deposit money back, but for Northwestern, that small loss of money would be worth it, imo.. unless the other college is like Harvard or Yale or something like that)

Definitely keep up your grades. Ask your counselor to lobby on your behalf. If NU is your first choice, make sure he/she makes that clear (don't fake it though because your counselor's reputation is on the line). Keep in mind that NU discourages the submission of additional materials unless it's academic information not previously known to the AdCom. I'm not sure if sending a letter of continued interest would be okay?

Also, I'm not sure if this would be appropriate, but if I were on the waitlist and really want to get in, I'd make a trip to the admissions office and speak personally with an admissions counselor. I doubt many would go this far to show their interest, thus giving you an advantage. Just think about it, if the waitlist is unranked and there are over 2,000 on it (probably, not sure), how would they possibly determine whom to pull off it? It's probably the most memorable ones who are going to get off, unless applicants are tagged and a disproportionate # of admits with a particular tag decline.
