After being rejected from SHARP and my governors school app not looking so good, I was wondering if there are still any summer programs that I can still apply for.

biggidybump

you should search around, qs like this have been asked before.

i know there's something in texas....meset or something? google it.

there's also ctd at northwestern, you can take high school courses in 3 weeks and get credit for them. dunno if it's your cup of tea: go to www.ctd.northwestern.edu and click on summer programs

Almost every college and university has summer programs, depending on how much $$$ your family is willing to pay. Are there any colleges that you are particularly interested in? Check their website for summer programs, hs internships, etc.

Or just stay near home and find a community service project at a hospital, library, homeless shelter or elsewhere.

Stanford Summer College, but its $$$

the meset apps were due a while back. Stanford summer college and ctd look okay, but id rather do something just for math, science, or computers if you know any. But thx for the help!

EPGY at stanford is pretty nice for specifics:
http://epgy.stanford.edu/summer/courseofferings.html
Its pretty well known, and not so much money (of course not as long) as Summer College.

yeah that one im already applying for. Do you think ill be fine with just a rec from my comp programming and chem/forensic science teacher or should i get a 3rd from my math teacher since ill be applying for the math courses too? Im just tired of asking all my teachers for recs lol

I dont know when the Summer@Brown apps are due, but I did it last year, and it was awesome.

Uh, it depends. You didnt make it really clear but its ok. Just have letters of rec for each subject you're applying t.o. Don't worry it isn't terribly hard to get into ( I got into Expository Writing last summer), but just make sure you spend quality time on the app so that it will reflect you.

will do. Thx for the help! ;)

UFlorida SSTP - deadline APril 28th.

oohh that looks like something i might be interested in

Mathcamp - deadling Apr 27

This is too late if you decided not to apply for UF-SSTP, but if you did apply and got in, I would really encourage you to go. I did SSTP in 2003 and it was the best 7 weeks of my life. I met some really incredible people who I am still best friends with, and the lab experience was much more than I could ever get from anything in my hometown. I wouldn't trade that summer for anything, and it has paid off as far as college goes - I was offered a $10k research stipend at Tufts University because of my research experience in high school (through SSTP), and I have also been offered admission to a few unique research programs at some of the other schools I applied to. Good luck and feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions - adart3987@yahoo.com
