Any surprises about RIT?

After being surprised with the dept move at Syracuse U, I was wondering if anyone has heard any dirt on RIT? My daughter is considering their Graphic Design pgm and had another good visit recently but now she's worried about finding out something when it's too late...Looking through the curriculum guide, the pgm sure looks intense at RIT. With the qtr system (taking 3 qtrs a yr), they sure take a lot of classes. I had expected the students to take 3 classes a qtr like at some other schools, but instead they have 5-6 classes at a time (16 credits on average a qtr). Only 10 weeks a qtr. Senior yr alone they take 9 GD classes. In some ways this appeals to her, rather than the schools where you have 2 GD classes and graduate with a concentration in GD but I'm wondering if she'll be in over her head. I know nothing about Art/Design so all I do is help her gather info. Decisions are hers (as they should be).

Academically, RIT is very good. Most students will agree on that. It is the other stuff that has problems such as extreme cold, lack of things to do on campus etc. I know, however, of no negative upcoming surprises. If anything, RIT is trying to make improvements in many ways.
