Any TASIS parents or students out there?

I'd love to hear what your experience has been with The American School in Switzerland. My D is a young h.s senior that is considering taking a gap year between high school and college. Given that she will have graduated from hs and will have secured a place in college, she will aim to spend a gap year as a PG. She is interested in TASIS because she will have the opportunity to live abroad with students her age, continue to take some science courses to keep material fresh for college, take other courses she was unable to take during high school due to strict schedule for fun and interest and hopefully meet a diverse group of peers from around the globe. We are interested in hearing about the quality of education and social life at TASIS. How happy is your child there or what has your experience been as a current or former student?

All info is appreciated. THANK YOU

Hi! I'm a sophomore at TASIS England, TASIS Switzerland's sister school. The education is great at TASIS England, but not so much at Switzerland. That might sound a little petty but I can give you a link to the facts so that you can see for yourself.

Switzerland's academic profile: http://switzerland.tasis.com/uploaded/documents/PDF_Academics/MS_HS_08-09/2009_academic_profile.pdf

England's Academic Profile: http://england.tasis.com/uploaded/PDFs/Publications/AcademicProfile2007-8.pdf

If England's academic supremacy isn't enough, the social life at TASIS England is better than Switzerland's as well. Not only is TASIS England twice as big as TASIS Switzerland, the environment is far more drug-free. Athletics in Lugano are also a complete joke, and when I say a joke, I mean a joke. When we played them at basketball last year, boys' varsity beat them 69-7 and girls' varsity beat them 72-4. No joke.

If you have any other questions about TASIS England, I'd be happy to answer them.
