Any thoughts on Catholic University of America? vs Manhattan College vs Suny New Paltz. Interested in Psychology, Anthropology, and Film. How are these schools, strength of curriculum, campus, etc.

Pupkin, I know of kids that are at New Paltz and they are supposedly very happy there. It is a very accepting environment. Kids can walk to the town (shops, restaurants, etc) from campus. I don't know of anyone at Manhattan, but it does have a solid reputation and it has a good engineering program. The school is located in a nice area close to the city. Sorry, I don't know anything about Catholic University. Good luck!

Ok.....

my brother goes to catholic university. He chose it over holy cross, St. Joseph, Fairfield. and elon. He wasent convinced on going until he actually visited because of the name(were not even catholic). Most people have never heard of CUA or dismiss it because of its low ranking on USNWR. Its ranking is on the rise however, because of the surplus of applications received over the last three years.

Catholic is not in the best neighborhood, Brooklyn, and there's not much to do within close walking distance off campus because of that But the metro stop is right there on campus that can take you virtually anywhere in DC MD, and Virginia.

He fell in love with the campus when he arrived there. It is a rather green campus and features the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception right on campus. This church is the largest catholic church in America, and very beautiful.

He likes catholic because of the city. Your in the city where politics is made. He has gotten private tours of the white house, been to the annual tree lighting ceremony at the white house, and just imagine what's going to happen in the coming months with the election!

Right when you pull out of the campus, you see fantastic views of the capitol building overlooking D.C. he has had many opportunities within the school to intern. The dorms are nice, really clean, with average sized rooms and plenty of storage space. There are also adding new dorms and buildings to keep up with the growing number of people.

Catholic is really trying to make itself nationally known. Don't let the name scare you either, there are a lot of non catholic people there like my brother, and students don't actually pray on a regular basis like Princeton review likes to think. Of course Catholic holds conservative values, but it gives you breathing room to do your own thing. Catholic is a "dry" campus of course, but students still party and drink, just like at other schools. The overall main thing to boast is that you don't have to stay on campus every day and weekend, your are in one of the most amazing cities with tons of things to do. The curriculum is also very good. My brother has had two teachers who are on CNN almost every other week. It is challenging, yet manageable. My brother is a psychology major and is taking really cool courses, and is now choosing from a long list of phyc internships that catholic has offered for him.

Another cool thing is that the Pope is visiting D.C. in two weeks and is visiting Catholic to hold a meeting with all of the catholic university presidents right on campus. Its a really big deal for the school and they have been preparing for months.

In my opinion, I would choose catholic because of the pretty campus, and the great city. You cant go wrong with D.C.

Catholic alum loved it. Great job pull when your fininshed because of location and alum connection.

Doesn't CUA also have a very high acceptance rate (~80%)?
