DD has her interview next week for Lehigh. Does anyone have any tips? What kind of questions do they ask? How long is the interview? Any other special considerations?

Thanks!

I never did the interview but was told that it’s very informal. Just so you know, it doesn’t have a very big part in the admissions process at all. As a matter of fact, it’s not required nor recommended. What it is, therefore, is a chance for the student to get to know Lehigh, and not the other way around. Your daughter will most likely ask just as many questions (if not more) as the interviewer will. From what I understand, the interviewer will not mark anything down in a positive or a negative way unless someone is strikingly one way or the other.

Again, this is just what I understand to be true. I could be wrong but I figured I’d help while you wait for someone who has first hand knowledge.

Best of luck to you and your daughter!

Sentence that sticks out to me: All interviews are evaluative but not required. It leads me to think the interviewer will do some sort of evaluation/form for your daughter. However, I completely agree with Lehigh2017 - the interview is informal and geared towards getting the prospective student familiar with the university.

I would go over good interview practices with your daughter - speaking slowly/clearly, making eye contact, showing enthusiasm, and coming up with good questions.

Best,

Your daughter should be prepared to answer why she wants to attend Lehigh.

Thank you for your help. It is very much appreciated. I will share your suggestions with her. She is excited to visit Lehigh. She loves engineering and sports so Lehigh seems like a good fit for her. She has the plane ride to review her Lehigh file to come up with questions. She knows what she wants in a college and what kind of programs interest her in engineering.

Thank you again. itsv
