I decided to take the ACT just a few days ago. I've been only concertrating on the SAT, so i dont know much about how the ACT works.
Are there any useful strategies on how to get a high score on the writing part?
The SAT writing tips really helped me prepare.
I was wondering if there are certain things that are crucial in getting high scores on the writing part of the ACT too.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I believe on the ACT writing you're graded on what you write and how well it's written. You want to write a lot though. Most likely 5-6 paragraphs and just try to take up as much space on the pages that they give you to write your essay as possible while writing well and using transitions and as proper punctuation and grammar as possible.

Also note that the writing time for the ACT is substantially less than the writing time for the SAT.

Thanks, both of you.
dr10, is it 5-6 paras including intro, and conclusion? are intro and conclusion actually required? how many pages do you get?

antw8up, how come? the ACT writing is 30 mins, and the SAT 25mins long, right? or do you mean that they expect you to write much more on the ACT than on the SAT?

Sorry, I erred. I meant to say that the extra five minutes on the ACT really help some students.

I'm not really sure, but the ACT Preparation booklet I got from school had a 5-7 paragraph essay.

There are a lot more blank pages to write on for the ACT...

which means they expect more written
