Next year (my junior year), I'm taking these:

AP English Language
AP Chemistry

How's the workload and how difficult are they? Any info would be appreciated! :)

I have taken the AP US History course…

AP US History is generally a very rigorous class with plenty of work to keep you busy up until the day of the test… My advice is to actually DO your work and not BS anything or think, “Oh, whatever, I don’t give a crap about that test tomorrow and I don’t feel like studying…” I know the textbook American Pageant seems very long and tedious, but if you read it and truly understand every paragraph of it, going chapter by chapter throughout the school year, it is so much easier when May rolls around and AP exams are upon you. If you do this, you won’t have to cram in late April/early May; all you’d have to do is take some practice exams and FRQs (which, I might add, I’d be more than willing to send to you when the time comes :)). I followed this method and I was so much more relaxed than my friends when the tests came by. I had consistently gotten high A’s on all my APUSH exams and my friends had gotten B’s, C’s, D’s, and F’s, and it was very clear by the end that my hard work was paying off. You could have the same experience.

Thanks for that awesome advice! It’s great to know :)

APUSH- yeah, lots of homework. tests were sorta hard, lots of reading, lots of test essays and papers. I did 1-2 hours of homework a night, and sometimes spent more than that on weekends for big projects for that class. Ended up with a 4 on the AP test.

What review book do you recommend? I’m planning to self-study it.

rea crash course is very good

For self-studying, I actually liked my class textbook the American Pageant. It’s quite the long read if I do say so myself, but if you read the entire thing through you should be very well-prepped for the multiple choice, and equipped with enough small details and outside information to nail all the essays.

If you’re not willing to spend a hundred bucks on a textbook or find a means of getting the Pageant, then I would STRONGLY recommend spending the year to read and absorb Amsco’s AP US History and then review when the test comes with REA Crash Course and Princeton Review.

Your class depends almost entirely on your teacher, so I can’t really help you there.

But I know the exam. For English Lang, the multiple choice is actually a lot like SAT Critical Reading. The essays are a little trickier, but look at College Board’s explanations of the grades for past essay questions. They point out common mistakes and what high-scoring people did.

US History is straightforward. Almost purely memorization, to be honest.
