Any tips for transfer admission?

Has anyone here had any experience with transfer admission to Caltech? I'm currently attending an Ivy (Penn) for economics, but I've never felt as passionate about fiscal policy as I have about quantum physics. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Are you a freshman? Did you originally apply to Caltech?

2 big things are… have you taken the recommended course load (in HS and college) and can you pass the entrance exams?

The rest of the app is the usual… passion, recs, scores, etc.

Transfer is only through a transfer examination. The transfer examination expects the knowledge level that they would expect from an Caltech student,

If you have not taken advanced physics and math classes, then you are going to have challenges with the transfer examination, unless you are willing to put the personal effort to get the required knowledge.

My understanding is that transfer examination is the key and SAT scores are not even required. Hence the factors that are important for regular admission are not as important for transfers.
