I would appreciate any tips on making it past DECA states because that’s where I seem to fail. I hope to make it to ICDC and win it next year.
Note: I am in one of the more competitive states and my advisor isn’t experience. My chapter is also quite small compared to others in my state.
Study for the test! Many kids don’t prep for it but a high test score can really make a difference. Also- find out what the performance indicators are in your category - and learn them like the back of your hand. Also- use your strengths and find out what category is best for you. Good luck!
Just do a written event. Trust me. Especially a more obscure one.
I was in DECA a lifetime ago and advanced twice to the national level via written events. I’d also recommend going down that path - you just have to write a really great manual and knock the presentation out of the ballpark. Studying for tests and acing role plays are a bit more competitive , since there are so many individuals / groups. Best of luck!
