I've heard a lot of great things about the ACT, so I wanted to give it a try.
I've tried the SAT and I didn't do as well as I expected. Although I haven't received he score yet, I can estimate that I will receive a 2150-2190, which is 150 points off my goal score. Yet, it's really hard to increase my critical reading score. I'm going to take it again, but I really want to see how the ACT compares to the SAT. I'm looking for ways in order to score a 34-35.
As of now, I know there's a science section composed of charts, graphs, and paragraphs. Do you have any suggestions for me to prepare for that?
I also know that there's a black book for the ACT. What other books are there that are beneficial?
Are there any general tips a 34/35/36 scorer could give me? Is it worth the switch?

Try the ACT for sure! I’m from the south where the SAT is the method of choice and I had a 1350 then took the ACT as a formality and scored a 33 with no preparation and no calculator (and math is my best subject).
As far as the science section, it is similar to questions you would see on the AP biology test (if you’ve taken that, you should be fine).
ACT 36 is a really great book I’ve heard as well. Best of luck!

@aves623 1350 on the OLD SAT I correct?

Thanks @aves623 !

It is definitely worth the switch. It’s a much fairer test. Buy the red book “The Real ACT” and take a practice test or two to see if you like it before you register for it.

Look at this thread for advice on Science: <a href=“Jeandevaches' Guide to the ACT - ACT Preparation - College Confidential Forums”>Jeandevaches' Guide to the ACT - ACT Preparation - College Confidential Forums;

@Pilotkhyle yes hahahaha I didn’t include writing. With writing I had a 2000

@Erebon great! Thanks for the thread. I’ll start prepping for the April ACT if I do not do well on the January SAT.
