Hi, I was wondering if any current or future students have any tips to an acceptance from the University of Michigan?
1)Please keep your social service continuous and not in pieces with breaks.
2) Obviously keep your scores and GPA up ( as much as you can)
3) Do what you like and not what the colleges may like
4) Do summer courses and online certificate awarding courses (Check out MIT courseware and coursera or EdX)
5) Apply early
6) Dont stress out
7)) Go Blue!!
The essays are way more important than people think! It’s really important to make it clear why UMich is special to you (aka make sure you can’t just plug in the name of any school to the ‘Why UMich Essay”) and to make it clear why you’re unique too. Show your admissions officer that you’re someone they’d want on campus and make sure the essay reflects a part of you not shown in the application.
Agree with above.
Don’t lose hope if you relieve an initial deference. Showing interest to your assigned counselor will help and isn’t just a waste of time. I got deferred and continuously demonstrated interest and received an acceptance. Also if you really want to go to UofM, you’ll try hard and get there… no one can stop you. And don’t feel let down if you don’t get in the first time in high school. You can always try as a transfer! There’s plenty of chances… I wish someone told me that.
