Any top 50 schools that offer good merit aid?

If you go slightly out of top 50, Fordham. There’s also Villanova.

If you want merit aid from a selective, private university, then the NE is not the most fertile territory. The midwest or south have more. Instead of Swarthmore, consider MW schools such as Oberlin or Grinnell.

If you definitely want New England or the Mid-Atlantic, check out Clark University, Brandeis, American, or GW.

Johnson Scholars at Washington & Lee. I still think it flies under the radar screen for most. Roughly 10% of every incoming class gets a full merit ride. W&L itself flies under the screen for most, I think because it is kind of clubby. It is an awesome school but it isn’t the “fit” for everybody. The school attracts extroverts, and I expect those extroverts naturally do well in the Johnson interviewing process too. One of the heaviest greek systems in the nation.

<a href=“The Johnson Program”>The Johnson Program;

“Designed to attract students with exceptional academic and personal promise, regardless of their ability to afford tuition and other expenses, the Johnson Scholarship program supports recipients in their studies so they are able to graduate debt free. A Johnson Scholarship is awarded to approximately 10% of each entering class.”

@Ctesiphon‌ Lol I’m not trying to be elitist or anything! I was just wondering if top 50 schools with good merit aid do indeed exist. Sorry if this post offended you.

@MWCDSS‌ W&L sounds great, but I’m really not a fan of Greek life, and don’t plan to participate. Is Greek life really that huge there?

@3boystogo‌ Do you know how competitive merit scholarships are at Nova and Fordham?

No worries - I was just joking with you. USC has a good deal of merit aid as far as I know, too.

@marshmallowpop You asked for scholarships at top ranked schools in the northeast. Of COURSE they’re going to be competitive.

I think many Top 50s offer merit based scholarships, but they usually have earlier application deadlines. e.g. USC’s deadline is 12.1
