Any transfer students out there?

@bhthx1-- yea, I contacted OAR and they told me that our AIS should be at step 5 by the end of this week. Also, they are mailing out admission decision on Wednesday and Thursday of this week… then once we are on step 5 we can sign up for NSC!!

@Xcellerator-- did ur friend have enough transferable credits?

@azim… i think the min. for general studies is a 3.0

Awesome, I’ll be signing up for July 20-21st!

nbeezy - I’m assuming so. She’s pretty sad and now has to go somewhere else. ):

Gah, she had 43 hours and applied for General Studies. :open_mouth: Very surprised A&M rejected her. Not right at all.

what was her gpa X? You probably said it before and if you did, my b.

4.0 gpa…

oh wow, rejected with a 4.0? How is that even possible, really sucks for her.

Moved to Step 5 today! Awesomeness. Signed up and good to go July 20-21st

Me too! cant wait to be on campus!

danggit! i missed the openings for the one in July… they filled up in a matter of hours… so i had to do the one in August :frowning: … no classes for me lol

Is there any point in me still checking my AIS, after I have gotten to Step 5 and accepted my offer of admission?

Pretty sure we don’t need to check back anymore on the AIS. We’ve just got the NSC and viola. We’re set.

I’m in the same boat as you nbeezy. I will be at the aug 19/20th NSC. Oddly, I had signed up on 6/16 and there was no opening for July. This rather sucks, but I guess there isn’t much we can do about it, lol.

I’m not too worried honestly, as I am just thrilled to be in!!! my apartment move-in date also happens to be on the 20th, so I suppose it saves me the extra trip.

@adambomb-- Yea, im just happy to be in too… and my apartment move in date is the 25th… but we are trying to push that up a week or 2 to save us a trip, but they are trying to charge an arm and leg for it  figures*

Just curious what complex you new transfers will be moving to? My son will be transferring this fall and his housing is still up in there air! Any off-campus recommendations? How did you make the choice that you did? He’s still kind of hoping something on-campus will open up, but I really hate waiting so long to find out. August will be here soon and everything off campus is going to be full.

U will have to go shopping around…I wasnt able to actually make a visit to college station yet so hopefully the apartment I chose wont be to crazy… but they had some good deals and specials and was close to campus so thats how I made my choice. There are alot of options for off-campus housing but they will start filling up quick this month. So do an online search and then try to make a visit to some of the apartments that he likes to see which one he wants to stay at.

TexaCo Mom, Callaway Villas is one place you might want to check out. It is located very close to campus, just off the corner of George Bush Drive and Wellborn Road. There is a bus stop right there. They are fully furnished newish apartments, and will do roommate matching for you. Nice workout facilities, pool, etc. They have individual leases as well. It is just across the street from Callaway House, which is a private dorm (with 98% freshmen), where my daughter lived last year. Callaway Villa residents may use the cafeteria at Callaway House if they desire to have a meal plan instead of cooking in their apartment.
You said he is hoping that something on campus will open up–is he on a waiting list? If so, what kind of hope did they give him, and what is the final date he would know something?

Thanks for the rec, aggiemom. No, he’s on no waiting list. By the time he learned of his acceptance, on-campus was full and they were not taking any more names for the wait list. He has been in touch with the the housing dept. and they say there is a chance they may reopen housing the end of July and for him to check their website daily.

nbeezy - yeah, we’ve been shopping around online and were hoping to make a visit to College Station last week, but between his work schedule (and jury duty!) and my work schedule (and his dad’s) we haven’t made it yet.

I really hate to have to make a decision sight unseen!

i do believe the Callaway Villas are required to have a minimal food plan at Callaway House. my daughters best friend lived in the Villa’s last year and was requried to have one
