Any transfers apply late?

I was originally planning on heading to another university, however, a late reevaluation of my credits would've had me losing two years of education (in other words, my entire A.S. from a NJ CC).

So here I am.

I applied to Rutgers a couple of weeks ago and just today, they finally received the last of my required transcripts, but my status is still listed as "In Progress".

I'm imagining (or at least hoping!) that with all of the first-years out of the way, it's only a matter of time now before they review my application and make a decision... but I was wondering if anyone else here was in the same boat? I'm getting very anxious because I really don't have that many options after my last school screwed me, as it caused me to miss most deadlines.

yeah i did. I talked to my transfer counselor and she said i missed all the deadlines so i didnt bother applying, but i when i visited rutgers they said i still apply. So all im waiting for is them to recieve my high school record which i did a week ago. My status still says “In Process” cause of it. The waiting is killing me lol.

Lol I know, right? It takes them forever to process transcripts… Judging by when my transcripts should’ve arrived there and when they updated my application status to say they received it, I’d say it took like two weeks?

Now I have everything in and it still says In Process… In other words, it’s just sitting on someone’s desk lol.

I emailed them and they said this:

Hi,

Students who submit their required credentials within two weeks of the application due date are guaranteed an online decision by our candidate’s reply date. Likewise, students who apply or submit required credentials after the due dates will be considered on a rolling basis without a decision timeline. Official admissions decisions will be shown at the student’s personal status screen.

I asked them what the status was of SAS (as far as if they’ve reached their limit for enrollment), but I didn’t get a response. Are you SAS as well?

Jesus, Lol. I forgot how stressful college stuff can be. Yeah Im SAS with Criminal Justice how about you? Yeah, basically it’s chillin on someone’s desk collecting dust, while your about to punch a baby waiting lol.

Ugh my God, I know how you feel.

I was all set to go back to the University of Miami (I started at a CC and then left UM to finish my A.S. before continuing) and then in April, UM tells me that I violated their policy of taking external courses and that none of my credits (60+) would transfer, even though I officially withdrew from them when I left. Seems like something my advisor or the folks in the registrar’s office that did my credit eval should’ve caught? Or maybe it’d be a good idea to put a policy like that on the website? Nah, how else would they steal students’ non-refundable deposits? God.

So here I am redoing the whole process I went through two years ago. I got accepted over in Oregon, but I don’t really think it’s worth going out there… in fact, the only reason I applied there was because they didn’t charge me because I applied there awhile back.

Anywayyyyy, yeah, I’m SAS for Geology. I think the program at RU is small, so I’ve talked myself into believing that that works into my favor haha. Still. I don’t like the waiting game.

I guess I do give them credit, because the people in admissions have been very nice and helpful with me and their housing department seems quite nice as well.

Yeah i think they just like toying with you and not telling you vital information before doing anything. I found out through the lady who works my front desk at guidence that rutgers and my CC have a agreement and it says that if you have less than 30 credits rutgers will hold a seat for you the following semester. That would have been helpful before i registered for this semester with 10 credits, she also stated “this is something your transfer counselor should have told you” the same lady who told me my chances of getting into the fall semester would be slim with me registering so late and should just “try again for spring”.

Yeah i hate the waiting, Not good with it at amusement parks or anything haha. The people who work there are very nice and helpful. The housing is nice too, well the display they had when i visited was nice haha. Did you write the optional essay?

Well I “wrote” the essay, but it was the same thing I wrote for the University of Pittsburgh; I just switched “Pitt” with “RU” lol… I’m so happy with myself that I saved that. I actually applied to Rutgers in '09 (when I first applied to Miami) and I didn’t write an essay and got in… but I just wanted to be safe this time. Back then, I didn’t care.

What CC are you at, by the way? I’m up at Sussex… don’t feel bad about having ****** counselors; I teach mine new things every time I go in there lol

Yeah i wrote my essay in a weekend and had my friend, who is a english major, edit it and make it sound better than what i thought of lol.

I go to Burlington CC. My one guidence person told me i should take precalc and I was like okay sure you are guiding me. and now i wish i hadnt since its all memorization and i cant memorize ten billion things lol. But my trnasfer one told me everything i already knew and told me false information and told me to us the njtransfer.org site and i was basically was like I used that site a good ten times now, nothing changed since the first time i used it lol.

I applied to rutgers back in '09 too and they said try again after you did two years of CC, which i was going to do anyway go to CC and transfer out.

But, i emailed rutgers admissions about my high school record being sent and they said it could take up to 3 weeks for it to be posted on my status. Yet, I still want to know if they got it or if my high school didn’t send it out like i asked lol. So annoying how my high school is still annoying me after 2 years.

Lol well I’d just call and see what they say. Like I said earlier, they’re pretty good in the admissions office.

Just say like, “Can you check if my HS transcript arrived? I sent it several weeks ago and was wondering if I should ask my HS to send it again”

And Pre-Calc sucks… I’m in Calc 2, imagine what that’s like lol. I think in the long run, it’s a benefit for you to have it, so while you might not need it, I think it’s good that you took it. For criminal justice, I’d imagine that you’ll probably have to take some shape or form of statistics… and it won’t be “hard,” but the more math you have, the easier it’ll be for you.

yeah thanks for that advice. I just called and nobody answered so i’ll prob call tmr after im done school. The one pereson i talked to was friendly though lol.

I dont want to take calc 2. I don’t thing i have to actually haha. But, I am taking Stat in the summer and a couple other classes to get my associates in science. I’m actually happy im taking Stat since in HS i took it and did really well in it surprisingly lol. My pre-calc teacher keeps saying “you’ll prob need this in Calc 2” and I’m like Oh thats a shame i’ll prob not take it haha.

Well it sounds like you’re in good shape then; good luck!

My status page updated again. Still in process. ****.

Ok so I decided to call admissions again today because I hadn’t spoken to them since the 1st and this is what the counselor told me:

-The SAS is NOT full; the way she was talking, it’s not going to fill up, either. She stressed that it was by far their largest school and the enrollment total shouldn’t get in the way of my (our) admission.

-The candidate reply date (5/1) means nothing to us. We will have two weeks to decide after we get accepted.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to provide me with any sort of timeline… but I’ll be sure to keep updated

Yeah I called today too and asked if they got my high school stuff and they did, so now they just have to update my page. Yet, i feel as though it will say In process still haaha.

So, we should know by the 3rd week of may then? It’s good that the SAS enrollment shouldn’t fill up, that should be beneficial.

God, this waiting game is not fun at all lol. These counselors are much more helpful than the ones at CC.

Unfortunately, no.

I meant, from the date we get accepted, we will have two weeks to inform Rutgers whether or not we intend to enroll. The candidate reply date for both first-year and transfer students was May 1st, but if you are accepted after that date, you are given two weeks from acceptance.

I originally thought that if my application was not processed before the 1st, that I would be automatically rejected… thankfully, this is not the case, but it does mean more waiting.

Gotcha. That was my hopeful thinking we would know in 2 weeks lol.

Basically we just play a waiting game till they process our applications and decide to accept us or not lol. awesome more waiting.

Still nothing.

I emailed over the weekend asking if they could add Newark onto my application and they did, but now both are “In Process” @_@

Did you have to resend you CC and high school stuff? Cause i was gonna do that too, but I don’t want to have to resend them. But, I think I don’t have to lol.

Haha I think we’re pretty much going through the same thought processes.

This is the email I sent to the admissions office:

To whom this may concern,

My name is __________ and my RUID is XXXXXXXXX

I applied for admission as a transfer roughly three weeks ago to New
Brunswick and my application still says “In Process”

I’ve been thinking about it for some time now, and I’ve been wondering
if it was too late to add RU-Newark onto my application. I just wanted
to get my application in as soon as possible, so I didn’t really give
the other campuses much thought–I understand if it cannot be done,
but I just wanted to try if it was “In Process,” or still awaiting
review.

If this IS possible, will I need to send my documents to RU-Newark, or
are all materials processed at the New Brunswick admissions office?

Thank you for your assistance

They never responded, but Newark showed up on my application after the first business day and all my documents are marked as received…

So I don’t think you’ll need to resend everything.

I would, however, do this as soon as possible if you were seriously interested… for obvious reasons.

yeah i might. Just my only concern is that I don’t know what the campus looks like since i only visited the NB one. And newark is farther from me, like 2 hours lol, and NB is much closer even though camden is the closest one to me…i dont want to live in camden lol.

I think all the credentials would be sent to the NB offices anyway, so there are all prob processed there.

I feel as though at the end of all this, the words “In Process” will haunt me forever. Since everytime i go check my status hoping for a change, it stills says it lol.

Just an fyi if you didn’t know, if you scroll all the way down on the status page, you can see:

Your status includes all required credentials received through 05/09/11.
You are responsible for ensuring that all required credentials, fees, and supporting documents are sent to us in a timely manner. Please be patient. It may take up to 10 business days to post receipt of credentials. To monitor the status of your application and required credentials, please check this site frequently.

Every time it updates, the date changes, so if you look and you see that it says 5/9, then you know they didn’t update it yet. I’ve had it update at 11 PM and I’ve had it update overnight (some have said 5 AM?)…
