You remind me of myself when I was younger. I am a senior this year. I also applied to UCLA, UCB, and NYU. Sadly, contrary to what spience said, unless you’re pulling at least a 2100+ on your SAT’s, and/or write a kick-ass essay, UCLA and UCB are out of the picture. NYU is a gamble. I also got a C/D in algebra 2 sophomore year :(. Unfortunately for you, the UC’s don’t consider your 9th grade scores when deciding, and it appears that your 9th grade scores were the highest.
Long story short, I got a 2100 SAT, horrible grades 10th grade, 2.5 unweighted, and much better grades 11th grade, 3.7 unweighted. I took many AP classes, didn’t have many extracurriculars, and in my opinion, had a pretty good essay for the UC’s. I was ultimately rejected from all 3 though :(, though NYU doesn’t surprise me, I applied last minute and showed absolutely no interest at all.

Aw, I’m sorry “forums”! Do you have any suggestion/things you would do differently… I am freaking out about this, but I have no idea what to do about it…

It hugely depends whether you are out of states or in states. It’s not definite, but according to what I hear, there are higher chance for you getting into state universities if you are international and can pay full tuition. And what are your desired majors? I can’t say whether you will definitely go into those universities since you still have two years to go. But if you take your butt off and take straight As and 2100+ SAT as Forums says, there is a high chance of you getting in. Good luck!

The GPA might end up hurting you. If that grade trend continues, i’d say you’d only have a chance at UCR or UCSC (and of course UC merced, but no one wants to go there haha). But if you do good on the SAT/ACT and raise your GPA a lot, UCSB or UCI could be a possibility

I am in state for CA, but will probably have to pay full tuition.

How do you think I sound for just NYU?
