I’m really doubting this, but I’m hoping that at least someone here has applied or know someone who has applied under the UCLA D|MA major this school year. I really hate to come off as being stuck up or conceited, but apparently I was rejected from UCLA via the admissions website–and maybe I’m being to idealistic here…but I really felt that my portfolio was a little above par what <em>some</em> their current undergrads produce. I’ve been designing since I was eleven, I make websites (Flash/HTML/PHP), produce/mix music, edit/direct videos, design/produce printwork, have advertisment experience with companies, etc…all of which are elements I have incorporated in my portfolio. My essay and extra curriculars were fantastic, my other stats were fine…but when I attended an orientation, I was specifically told that the portfolio [undoubtedly] was the key to admission. I even went as far as designing beautifully presentable packaging just for the cause.
It was the biggest slap in the face I had ever lived to receive. I either just really have no skill, or can use this as some excuse to add into the fact that UCLA’s admissions are totally random. I just feel like they overlooked my portfolio and made their decision based on my normal admission stats…
Alright, before I end up making this into another jealous rant (I apologize, really)…I want to know if anyone else here knows anyone who applied at all, rejected or not. Or if you haven’t been notified yet, please let me know here if you do. I feel like wanting to know someone I can relate to on this, hehe.
In advance, to anyone who does get accepted, I am happy for you and I commend you for all of your efforts.
