Any UMD students apply to Virginia Tech?

Im probably going to be deciding between Virginia Tech and UMD-CP. I like UMD alot but i'd be paying out of state tuition and I wouldnt be in the business program (I'd have to apply after sophomore year I think). On the other hand i'm already accepted into the Virginia Tech business school and its a good deal cheaper, just wondering what any of you thought of the two schools, especially if you were deciding between the two.. thanks

I know a few people that applied to both. Both are similar but UMD is considered better. I know someone who got into both and lives in maryland yet is going to va. tech. There really are some people that don't like their state school.

Now for Pamplin or Smith. UMD-smith is better but not by much. I mean Pamplin is at 40. Here is my take. I got into Wisconsin(12th in biz), PSU(18th in biz + a program there), and UMD(22nd and the scholars program). Wisconsin does not allow for anyone into the business school until they are juniors. For those not admitted to UMD Smith you must wait till your junior year also. I decided if I did good enough I could always transfer to Wisconsin my Junior year anyways and then take business there but if I didn't do good I would have the security of being at a great school like UMD anyway. The same might be true for you. You aren't going to be taking any business classes at UMD until you are a junior even if you go. You can transfer later if you get good grades.

HOwever, UMCP offers a business program for those not in the business school which is designed to lead the students to the business school. It also is not that hard to get in as an internal transfer your junior year, a little over a 3.0 should do it. IF you are confident you can get that then its not that bad. Va. Tech Pomplin is ranked 40th though. I truly believe UMD is better but is it worth the price of OOS tuition?

Post this up in the selection thread too. They will offer you advice. It seems money is an issue but that is different for everyone. I can't go anywhere but UMD because of the $$. SOme people can. If it really is a problem then understand Va tch business is still good. I think you can get into the Smith school if you work hard if you go to UMD. You must do well

Well id be transferring to either of these schools next year as a sophomore so I wouldnt want to transfer again, but I appreciate the comments.
