Any University

Hello,
I'm just trying to get a clear answer as to what I'm going to need to do to get into a university. Here's what I have:

Good
Skipped a grade/opportunity to skip another
3.7 GPA
Low-income family/Tourette's
high involvement in mental health
Plan to become a psychiatrist

Bad
Attend school for mentally ill children
Terrible Mathematic SAT score
School only offers 1 EC & being in a rural location I haven't found anywhere to volunteer

I've been working on a book and begining a support group for mentally ill children, would that help? Also I have a couple theories on dissociative disorders is there anyway that could help me?

Thanks,
Jen

This is an incredibly interesting resume. To be honest, I'm just stabbing the dark, but I think your disability is compelling, to say the least.

I think you have a great chance of getting into a decent university, as long as your SAT scores at decent (1700+ or so).

I agree with lastchancexi. Colleges will look at what school/area you're from and make their judgements on that. They obviously won't expect a huge laundry list of EC's from you if you don't have the opportunities to do so. Work with what you have, you really are in a unique situation. Talk about this a lot in your essays, I know I'd find you very interesting. =)

Schools take into account difficulties faced--which in your case, are obvious and numerous.

Also, the 3.7 GPA is very high--so as was said already, a 1700 SAT will get you in at a lot of great places.

Also, you should ask for special circumstances for taking your SAT test if you have Tourette's--which will help with the score.
