Anyone hear anything

None that I know of. but I’m happy you made this thread.
so anxious!

There is another thread here on CC where people have posted waitlist news - I did not see Wake on it, but maybe check that periodically.

We know lots of kids on the Wake waitlist, so hopefully there is some news on that front soon.

they don’t consider the waitlist until after may 1. hopefully it should be within the next couple of weeks!

These schools have gone to their wait lists. UVA even said on their blog that they wanted students to avoid losing their deposits by getting the offer in the wait listed student’s hand before the deadline tomorrow. I wish Wake would do the same thing. I think most people will take the bird in hand. Some of these schools draw from the same applicant pool as Wake… Dying to go there. Just wish they were able to go to the wait list now, instead of next week, or the week after.

ddddva - it may be that Wake hasn’t received enough “declines” yet to safely go to their waitlist and need to wait until all the responses have come in.

Good luck - hope you get in!

@ddddva- is there a thread with all of this wait list info?

Thanks. I understand that Wake may not have enough “declines.” But consider that Wake is “old school” (which I like!). Other universities are going to more electronic based admissions practices, which I think are more efficient. I know Wake still sends out acceptance letters… but did I read on another Wake forum that admitted students who don’t want to attend Wake have to send in a postcard? (Since I was wait listed I don’t know if that’s the case.) It does give schools who offer electronic responses a day or two jump on figuring out the number of commits on their list, so they can make offers to wait listed students (who might be on a few wait lists) who will be delirious to jump on an offer. Just my thoughts.

Thanks for that link, helpful stuff

Any updates?

I was waitlisted at four schools, but Wake is the only one that truly baffles me.

They say that they average 20% off the waitlist, but the CC posts I’ve seen from the last two years show nobody getting in off the WL…
For what its worth, in 2009 kids got in on like 5/7, 5/8…so if anything, i’m expecting news pretty soon

The CC forum for Wait List updates shows that someone got off the Wait List at Wake yesterday. Not sure if that is true, but it’s about time! Way later than all their peer schools.

FYI - if you are looking for the specific wait list forum referencing WF it is…

Good luck!!

Mount Holyoke has also gone to their waitlist, just an FYI. My friend got in just today (the adcom called and offered her a place) – She is THRILLED.

Don’t lose hope guys! A friend also got into Vandy yesterday – Believe in yourselves! (and go forth )

I have heard that Wake has gone to a small quantity on its wait list and will reassess as it moves forward. Some progress, but not a big quantity at this time.

A friend got off the wait list at Wake Forest yesterday. They called him to offer him a spot. They said he was one of the first and had 24 hours to accept. He accepted today. Not sure how many spots there are, but they are not contacting people. They contacted his parent’s first to ask for permission to contact their son.

This applicant did not do anything other than to send back the card to let them know he wanted to be on the wait list. Good luck to everyone!

called the admissions office a couple days ago. apparently they are calling male applicants first in an attempt to even out the ratio of females to males.
hopefully they will start calling females soon!

i wish that schools would tell us personally “hi, we’re calling guys” or “we’re calling X majors…stay tuned”
this process would be more transparent

Another boy got off the waitlist on Monday. Adcom called; expecting letter via usps today or tomorrow. Yippee
