I was wondering if there are high schools that award scholarships based solely on being ether a valedictorian or a salutatorian. My school: Flagler Palm Coast High School, did not give me financial aid because I was the valedictorian. However, I hear in news sometimes about students ruthlessly compete against each other for this title because "money and financial aid are at stake." I want to know if there are high schools actually give out financial aid for this achievement and how much money they actually get.

I think the competition has more to do with the fact that you can put it on your college admissions application than the money and financial aid that may be at stake. Many colleges offer scholarships that factor in class rank as do some foundations.
