I will be playing intercollegiate soccer and I would like to hear from anyone who is playing any sport at D1, D2 or D3 and managing as a premed, especially if you made it through Organic Chem. Thanks!

i know several D3 athletes that did so, including one who was captain of 3 sports who is now at a very prestigious med school

I know several D1 athletes who took orgo last semester. I'm not going to say it was easy, but they managed. You have to be able to plan your study time, but it's not impossible. Though it probably does also depend at least somewhat on what school you're at and how difficult the work is. I'd say mine is probably about mid-range, not ridiculous easy or hard.

It really depends on your sport. I doubt any Duke basketball players or Texas football players could manage a premed and play their sport.

Some can do it all but not many. He would have played football but had a head injury that prevented playing.

One of my cousins did at least some of her premed after being All-American in her sport at an East Coast D1. She did one of the post-grad one year programs. I don't know whether she took organic chemistry during college or in this post-grad year.

now that i think of it, i know of someone who played on the #1 ranked team in her sport (extremely competive; high profile; D-1). she graduated with a 4.0 and took the year off to really prep for the MCATs.

My friend on the Rice track team had this written about her on the C-USA website:

S**** *****, who is also Rice's all-time leading scorer for the Owls' soccer program, earned her undergraduate degree in biochemistry and kinesiology and has been accepted to the University of Texas medical school in Houston. As a distance runner for the Owls, Yoder is an Air Force Scholarship recipient.

Not only is she a genius, an amazing soccer player, and ridiculously fast, she's hot as hell :D

good article but theres no point in bleeping out her last name if it appears later in the article. just trying to help out.

its possible but a decline in social life is a big must.
