Any veterans?

Wow congrats! Good job! Are you transferring?

Thanks!! Yeah, I’ll be attending UCSD starting this summer.

Ahh San Diego is niiiice!!!

@NCB316, I worked with a veteran who is currently at Cal and I vaguely recall a mention that the GI money goes directly into your school account; so you probably don’t need to deal with paying upfront.

Ahhh well, UCLA rejected me, I think it was because I applied as a psych major (highly impacted) and was missing one of the prerequisites. I also didn’t have TAP or anything (though I don’t believe the JC’s up here were offering it)…at least I don’t have to take chem over the summer now  (that was the missing prereq)

Still in at Davis and waiting on Cal now. I’ve only got 6/7 prereqs at Cal as well but am again planning on taking the last one (physio) over the summer if I get in. It’s really too bad because I couldn’t have taken the last prereq anyway since Bio was a prereq for all of them and I am taking THAT class right now…I think I’ll have fun at Davis…lol…still, always a chance I guess. Had Cal starting point so maybe that will help a little, I remember my mentor telling me that the missing prereq shouldn’t kill me, hope she was right…

Good luck NCB  and grats UChopeful!

UCLA rejected me too, here’s to holding out for Cal cheers

Thanks AskMsSun.

Lala, good luck buddy, really hoping for Cal here as well!

GOT INTO UCLA PRE-PSY MAJOR!

ARMY: 8 years active duty
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAHHH

Congrats LA! Get someeeeeeeeeeee.

@NCB316: Thanks…its been a long time coming for us veterans…good job to you all and good luck NCB316.

I don’t know too much about the military, but are any of the veterans here thinking about becoming an officer after he or she gets a Bachelors?

@rpicton - UCLA admitted!! I’m planning on applying for Uniformed Services University for med school. You get a direct commission as a 2nd lieutenant as soon as you enter. Plus there’s no tuition and you get a monthly salary! =) I honestly wouldn’t become a regular officer after my bachelors. IMO kinda not worth it…

@UCLA1983 - Congrats buddy! I got in as a Pre Sociology major!
Where were you stationed in the Army?

For any Veterans do you know if we can use Calvets College Fee Waiver Program for summer sessions at the UC’s?

I’ve never used the College Fee Waiver Program as I already receive the governors fee waiver at my CCC, so the veterans counselor told me there was no point in apply for it then since they both did the same thing.

^Yes, you can use the calvets fee waiver for UC’s.
To be eligible, you must:
Have a parent who is a disabled veteran (0% or more disabled); or
Have a spouse who is service-connected (S/C) deceased or rated 100% S/C disabled.
Be a child earning less than $11,161 per year (student’s income, not parents’).
Note: there is no income limit for a spouse or children of S/C deceased or 100% S/C veterans.
Attend a California Community College, California State University, or a University of California school.
Provide proof of the student’s relationship to the veteran such as a copy of a birth or marriage certificate.

From my understanding, you must be the dependent child not the veteran.

^ Yeah I’m a dependent my father is the Veteran. Ok Thanks Matt511 I’m going to have to go see my veteran counselor.

So, are any of my brothers in arms going to be joining me at Cal??? : )

I will see you there :D:D

USMC here I will be going to UCI if UCSD rejects me today.

Hoooah! Just got into Cal!!! Accepted to f ucking everywhere I applied!!! F uck Yea!
I’m still leaning towards UCLA because my Cal fi-aid is $200 lower than UCLA. ;)
