<p>Basing this categorical statement and your other conclusions on averages is very misleading. While it is true that the SAT scores of OOS students are, on average, higher than those of in-state students, individual students are not averages. For instance, for the Fall class of 2005, there were 543 in-state students who scored 1400 or better on the SAT, while the number of OOS strudents attaining this score or better was 311. Based on these numbers, I believe the top OOS students have plenty of company.</p>
