Any way to calm my nerves?

Well, the early action deadline has passed, which means decisions will probably be coming out in a little over a month. I applied a few weeks ago, got an e-mail saying that I qualified for early action, and now I just have to wait, and I've never been so nervous. It seems that all I read about now is extremely qualified kids who got rejected in previous years, which just makes me more and more worried each day. Michigan is my dream school and I've worked so hard to be able to go there. How can I calm myself down during this stressful period? I've never been good at waiting for things.

Take a deep breath because you’ve done all you could. You’ve submitted your app, it’s out of your hands now. There’s not much you can do now to affect your decision so calm down and make yourself comfortable. You’re done with the application! No more essays, no more tests.

Ultimately it comes down to you, not the college you go to, that determines your success. Good luck getting in though.

You only have one senior year of high school - go get involved with your, your classes, your teachers, your school. Go to the games or work on yearbook or simply hang out with your friends. Come spring you will be glad you enjoyed your senior year. As they say, what will be will be.

Sorry for the double your…I’m watching “the game.”

Thanks guys. Would any of you mind quickly chancing me? I’m not going to give my full stats (I already posted on the college chances forum), but I have a 4.0 UW GPA, 33 ACT, took 1 AP last year and 3 this year (basically everything else I took except history is honors), a decent amount of extracurriculars, 2 teacher recs (one of which I read and it was fantastic), and I’m in-state. I feel like any other average applicant. I know someone last year with stats very similar to mine who was flat-out rejected.

You’re a very competitive prospect… A 33 ACT is above that 32 line for UMich, a 4.0 is impressive though your courseload wasn’t filled with as many APs as some others. The fact that you’re in-state helps and if you have a decent essay you have a shot of getting in. The school you’re applying to in Umich (LSA, engineering etc) can also play a factor though.

I’m applying to LSA, I forgot to mention that. I think I expressed a lot of interest in Michigan with my supplement essay. I wrote my common app essay about working as a camp counselor and my other supplement talked about band/marching band.
