I'm interested in doing something with CS and econ. I'm not sure about EECS. Is Econ hard? What is computer engineering? Thanks.

It would be extremely difficult to do EECS + Econ as a double major. However, you can do L&S CS and Econ as a double major.

The problem with EECS + Econ is that EECS is in the college of engineering with Econ is in the college of letters and science. They have separate sets of breadth requirements you'd have to take, which adds a lot to the amount of coursework you'd have to do, making it difficult to finish both majors in 4 years. With L&S CS and Econ, you'd have a common set of breadth requirements, plus the major-specific courses. You should be able to complete a double major in 4 years if you plan carefully.

I heard that cs is not a sure fire thing, though...

CS is not a sure thing. Neither is economics. However, if you're admitted to EECS, EECS is a sure thing. For econ, many of those who do not get in do PEIS, or Political Economies of Industrial Societies. The program changed its name so that might not be accurate anymore. It's a combination of international relations, poli sci, and economics. It has more requirements than most majors.
