Any way to find out teachers for Fall term?

I got half of my schedule on ssol.columbia.edu, and I went to Courseworks to look them up, but the site only gives professor names for the Spring term. Is there any way of looking up the professors for the fall term?

Also, if I find out that the professor to my course is bad, can I switch out into a class taught by a different professor?

You can switch course sections as much as you want as long as it's not a core class. Core classes, you have to appeal and have a good reason to switch.

The only people who might know professors assigned to particular sections (if the info isn't available online) are the departments. Call them up and ask - say you're an incoming freshman - or visit in person.

This is true. However, I don't think they want to tell you who the profs are for the Core classes. The whole point of keeping the names off the schedule is to avoid "professor-shopping."

Actually, you can switch ArtHum and MusicHum courses online without appeal as long as openings exist (or come to exist) during registration. Unlike your other courses, anything in the core is subject to a one-week add/drop period.

so I can switch my CC section if there's an opening?

Last year, there was a way to find out who your LitHum and UW profs were in advance by going to Courseworks and clicking on "Library Reserves" in your Class Page. Dunno if that'll work again though, but it's worth a try.

Not easily. CC (like LitHum) requires a petition. ArtHum and MusicHum can be switched online should openings exist. Either way, all core courses are frozen after the first week.

To petition the department for Core class changes is a huge pain in the butt. My pre-assigned UW section (actually L&R, the predecessor class) conflicted with organic chem. They tell everyone to show up at the English department at a certain time and you have to stand in some huge line. The department secretary (no idea if he's still there now) was the crabbiest guy, who also happened to be like 4'11", and acted like he was doing me a favor.

This only works during your specified registration times....after the first wk though you need to go to the core office and petition.

How else would you expect to switch online?
