Any ways to avoid toefl?

Do you guys know any ways to avoid taking the Toefl?
Is there a way to let the college know that your English skills are adequate enough to study in their college without taking a standardized test like the Toefl?
I'm almost a native speaker and i would rather not have to study for another test since i'm already studying for the ACT.
Someone told me an F1 visa can get me out of taking Toefl..I'm not sure if this is true or not..
any ideas?

Each college gets to decide on its own how they want to verify your English proficiency. The two most common ways to get out of the TOEFL/IELTS requirements are

attending an English-speaking school for x number of years

sufficiently high verbal scores on the SAT or ACT

550 or 600 in CR (depend on university)

if you are native speaker, you just take the test and no need to study. As my cousin, she grew in Us but moved out for 5 years. she got 117 or 119 without studying

I didn’t have to take the TOEFL for any of the schools I applied to. My SATs were high enough that they didn’t require it. If it’s no problem, though, you should probably take it and get a really, really high score just to show you can.

TOEFL is a peice of cake if you’re really fluent in english. You’ll easily get +100 without studying at all .
The college that i’m applying to said that if i got more than 600 on the reading and the writing portions of the SAT i don’t have to take TOEFL (( my writing is 640 , reading is 570 , so probably will take TOEFL )) , so contact admissions to ask them if they follow the same system .

You could take the IELTS instead, which is what I did.

^^ not all universities accept IELTS . However, all of them accept TOEFL

Hmm, I didn’t have any problems, even though some of the schools I applied to appeared to only accept the TOEFL. These tests are largely a formality; as long as your result is validated by your app essay, nobody cares. I didn’t even submit official IELTS score reports with my apps.

Take the GRE instead of the TOEFL and they’ll take it.

ignore the above

^^ agree
What does the GRE has to do with the TOEFL O_o
