So, my D has been accepted ED (yay!) and she filled out the form, mailed it in and did the 3 question housing form online. We also sent the deposit online. Since then, we haven’t heard anything from Brandeis. Is this other people’s experience as well. Does she not hear anything until it’s time to pay again or pick classes?

I would appreciate hearing from someone, because it seems awfully quiet.
Thank you.

same here! I think in the original package there was something about accepted students day-- but once my d signed up for her email we havent heard either.

I think you’ll hear again in the spring, perhaps around accepted students day which is usually around April, and then over the summer when you’ll get info about orientation, yes, about class selection and your roommate. Remember that RD kids haven’t been accepted yet, so it’s still pretty early.
Have your kids checked out the Brandeis 2014 Facebook group?

Yes, I’m pretty sure my D has joined that Facebook group. I guess what you said about waiting for the RD students to hear and make a decision before moving forward with anything else makes sense. It is just weird that there is such silence, I was a little nervous.
Thanks for your reply.

At some point last year my D (ED, class of 2013) received a Brandeis t-shirt that says “I got in!” It seems to me that it came sometime after the original acceptance package. But I agree, there was a long silence between December and the spring.

BTW, she now says “Brandeis is paradeis.” She is so happy there Congrats to the 2014 ED accepted students!

What a nice and encouraging reply, thank you. I think I love Brandeis parents! You people make me feel like I’m not totally floundering on all this new parent-with-kid-going-to-college and I am clueless about most of it when I’m actually the type of person that likes to be prepared. I realize and probably shouldn’t know everything in advance, but I do and will appreciate any advice parents who went through this last year is willing to offer.

You’re welcome, poligirl. I was in your shoes a year ago, complete with the “I’m actually the type of person who likes to be prepared” feeling. Other CC parents helped me last year and I am happy to maintain the tradition :)

One of the things I noticed was that as recently as a couple of years ago there were open forums on the Brandeis website where incoming students shared info and advice; parents could read along and learn too. That all happens on FB now, so parents don’t have access. Oh, yeah, maybe that’s the point ;)

Feel free to post questions or PM me anytime.

Thanks so much-- my daughter is in love with the kids she has met on the Brandeis Facebook site-- she says she finally feels like this is where the other quirky kids like her have been hiding-- where its okay to be smart and say you want to be a scientist! I am only jealous that didnt go to college there!

As a Brandeis alum myself (and parent of a RD applicant to Brandeis and other schools) this thread has made me smile. All that positive Brandeis energy! I loved my time at Brandeis, and good luck to those who will be attending next year.
