I just recieved an email concerning Tulane's Personal Application. Anyone else get this/apply with this? I am happy they waive the application fee!Even though the essay is optional/extra curricular activity section is optional, I am sending mine and would imagine that they prefer you to, but list optional just to see who doesnt send theirs? Does the personal essay give an applicant an advantage or is it just used to get more people to apply? Also Tulane doesnt say anything about teacher recommendations? I am sending one anyway....Anyone have any info/news on acceptance with the Personal Application? It claims whenever you send it, you will hear back in four weeks, any truth to that?

yes, i got mine, but it was too late. I turned in the common app. damn

Last year, we received 6 copies of that personal application and others I know also got multiple copies; they were outdone though by Wash U of St. Louis which sent us 14 copies of its brochure and app.

Usually if you get the personal app you will get a good scholarship, but of course the starting price is quite high. They don't respond in the time they promise though and were not very organized, sending out more personal apps after my S applied 4 weeks earlier stating last chance for personal app. They didn't respond to e-mails always either so we were a little skeptical about the school although many folks last year turned down great offers elsewhere to go and seem very happy with their choice. I agree Drusba about Wash U. They kept the postoffice quite busy last year!

I did, but i had no interst in tulane

I did... it also had a red ink stamp on the cover that said "National Achievement Scholar" (an AA thing :) ) ....however, i dont want to apply there.

My friend got that Personal Application thing and sent it in to Tulane in late September. He got his acceptance letter two weeks ago without supplying any of the optional information (including essays) and a 1260 SAT.

i received the application. i got 1210 on the SAT. Even though that is low for tulane, hey, i am black

what does the personal application mean

The Personal Application is also available to anyone via the Tulane web site. Simply go to http://www.tulane-app.org/5096/login.asp
I don't know if the app fee is waived in this situation.
My S did receive the Personal Application in the mail. He did receive an acceptance within the 4-week time frame.

Well, the application may be available to all, however, one needs to have a specific password and user name given by the university(read what it says). but anyways, i am just curious, is tulane easy to get into with a personal application
