If I were going to UCSB, I'd probably sign up for it. But I'm still deciding among 3 other schools. I know there's a lot of other interests, like Black, Hispanic, Environmental, Quiet Studies, and a lot more, but these interest floors only hold around 50 students.

haha. i was thinking about applying for the special interest floor but everyone tells me since its the asian floor at least 80% are going to be nerds
i want some real fun with my floormates so i was thinking against it
so if anyone knows what its really like give some input :]

Ronris I had the same question (transfer interest) so I emailed the housing office and they said that AFTER you "win" the lottery, then you can rank your choices. They didn't tell me any more than that, but to me it makes more sense to rank them first...

Are you serious? 80% of the asian floor is nerds? If it is... then I'm nto going to apply there. Does anyone know the real situation?

pinoyboix -- are you going to/currently attending ucsb? and same Q as karupt, do the floors fill up quickly and is the housing process first come first serve?

no idea, my friend just lives there. she parties alot so just thought id clear up that whole lots of asians = nerds thing. but since it is the only special interest asian floor, im guessing it fills up quick

I don't think those floors fill up that quickly. The Rainbow house is really only like half rainbow and the rest are regular students.

Don't really understand why people like to self segregate themselves in college but if that's what you like then you shouldn't have much of a problem getting that floor.

I am on the Outdoor adventure floor! So worth it! We go on floor hikes and do other outdoor activities that make the college experience that much better! If you don't mind living in FT, this is the floor to be on!

P.S. FT are the best dorms, don't listen to the mumbo jumbo about FT being too far. THE rooms themselves are so much nicer. And think about it this way, you definely won't get the freshman 15 with all the bike rides.
