So did any1? Please tell me. I need to know. I got my scores today and they look really weird.. meaning they were low, and I took the test with mechanical pencils.

you were told not to.

shame on you.

last year i took mine with pencil and got the scores i wanted. this year i took em with mechanical pencil and got crappy scores. :(

I got two 4s and a 3

I took every standardized test in my life with mechanical pencils. I got 5s on a couple AP tests, and expected scores for everything else I took.

Why wouldn't you take them with mechanical pencils? You don't need to sharpen them and you don't have to press them down too hard. I've taken every test in my life with a mechanical pencil. All my APs have been 4s and 5s.

I remember taking all mine with mechanical pencil, because Calc was my first one and I was going to do the MC when regular pencil but ended up forgetting to take it out, and by the time i realized it, I wasnt able to reach for it anymore.

I got two 4s, and two 5s. 5 on Calc, which I was 100% sure I used mechanical pencil.

yeah i did and i got all 5's

2 pencil lead is #2 pencil lead, right? doesn't matter where it's coming from.

What's mechanical pencil?

But doesn't the size and the impact matter since mechancal pencils' lead are tinner and #2 pencils are more round and "strong". But the point is... my scores are just horrible and I REALLY thought I got a 4 or a 5... :-/.. I was confident after I took the test.. sigh.

then ask for a rescore, i think you'll get your money back if there's an error.

btw, wzzzz, a mechanical pencil is a pencil made of plastic in which you insert lead. its kind of like a pencil you can refil and reuse all the time, and instead of sharpening it, all you have to do is click on the button and more lead comes out. they're quite convienenent.

i took em with a mechanical pencil, i got a 5 on my Chem. I also used it on half my free response cuz the proctor said so. mechanical pencils do matter so much do they? ive been using them for standardized tests for over 2 years now.

I just think that I work more effciently with a mechanical pencil. But this post worries me a little b/c I never knew using mechanical pencils could negatively affect your score on a standarized test.

There's no reason that using a mechanical pencil should affect the way your answer sheet is graded. A #2 mechanical pencil is the same thing as a #2 standard pencil. I've always taken all my standardized tests with mechanical pencils and never had a problem

on semester exams in 7th grade i used a mechanical pencil and got Cs and Ds on all of my exams that involved scantrons. my teachers thought it was weird since I had As in the classes, so they gave me back my answer sheet along with a clean answer sheet and i bubbled the clean one in with a normal pencil and ended up with 95+ on the exams. i've never used a mechanical pencil since. i only use black warriors for bubble in tests now.

If you wrote essays in mechanical pencils that may be a problem because I know that they recommend that you write in pen, as pencil has the potential to smear.

Uh, I got a 5 by using a mechanical pencil...
Just make sure that you are using the appropriate lead (no. 2!!!)

i wrote essays in mechanical pencil and still got 5 (APWH)

I've used mechanical pencils for all of my standardized tests except the ACT. I got fours on both my APs, which is better than I thought. As long as it's number two, it's not going to effect anything.

I used mechanical pencil on all of my APs (except for the essays), and got all 4s/5s.

I also used it on the ACT and got a 34...so from my experience, using a mechanical pencil doesn't make any difference on standardized tests
