Who else is appealing? Let's share stories and help each other out.

Unfortunately I didn't get into UCLA TFT which was ridiculously hard, but I am thinking of appealing for another major because I have broad interests in Philosophy and Comparative Literature.

However, I put my alternate major as Comp. Lit so I'm not sure if I can appeal for Philosophy...

-STATS-
GPA - 4.0
E.C. - decent
ESSAY - writing is my strength, I must say.

I have done two courses in Philosophy - Intro and Religion, but not the other two.

I have done a course in Literature, but it says "TWO YEARS IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE" which I hope my high school Spanish can count, right?

Some got into majors without having done all their pre-reqs which sparked my interest. Do I have a better chance with Philosophy? Or do I have a better chance with Comparative Literature?

i’m appealing
Major: Poli Sci
GPA: 3.41
EC: Internship for CA Assemblymember
TAP: eligible, but being a one year transfer, UCLA wouldn’t allow me

I know my GPA is low, but that results from 1 C in a 5 unit class I took about 3 years ago, during the summer before my junior year in hs. Ever since then, I haven’t had anything lower than a B

I was recently rejected from UCLA as a sociology major, 3.5 GPA, tap certified, IGETC done, internship last summer and member of the honors club. (since then I am a member of PKT and interning for a candidate for state assembly who is a former ucla class president).

Since I have been rejected I have realized how insignificant my undergrad degree would be considering I want to go to grad school as well. I did not put an alternative major on my application because I thought I would go wherever would take me for soc, anyways, I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on if I would have a change to appeal for another major? or would it be a waste of time and just another heartbreak?

UCLALUV : Did you take calculus?

I did take calculus, but it was at san francisco state where I attended for a year before I transferred to a community college with the hopes of going to ucla.
It was called “Math for business majors-DS 110” but assist.org told me it was the same as calculus.

^ UCLALUV

I’m not sure which CCC you go to but DS110 is more closely related to math 75 at CCSF which is not consider true Calculus in the same sense. Since from CCSF to UCLA as a sociology major they require Math 100A-Short Calculus or Math 110A-Engineering Calculus. The reason I used CCSF as an example is that we’re the major feeder school for students transferring State, so our classes have been matched up to SFState.

Source: GF is graduating from state as an accounting major in the fall and assist as well as CCSF being a feeder school.

I just got rejected. Did you guys called to ask the reason why you’ve been rejected? Which number did you call?

funny you mention that, i just called UCLA and they told me the reason I wasn’t admitted is because of that calc class…when every one of my counselors told me it would count and even the UCLA rep that came to my school didn’t question it…i’m appealing for sure!

^good luck
