Anybody applying to Peabody?

Converse about subject fields, stats, chances, or anything!

Hi! I’m applying for Human and Organizational Development. You can find more than you probably wanted to know about me here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/vanderbilt-university/1037748-too-dumb-hodumb.html</a>.

I finally submitted the common app tonight, got the Vandy supplement in awhile back, and have an interview with a Vandy alumna in two weeks. How’s the process going for everyone else?

hey! I’m applying for HOD as well.
is vandy ya’lls 1st choice?

I’m applying to Peabody for Education  It was a spur of the moment choice, but hey, they didn’t require any additional short answers so… hahaha

I’m applying EDII to Peabody (HOD major). I’ve looked at some stats and I’m pretty sure Vanderbilt is a very test score focused school. I plan to use this to my advantage, as I have a 1600/1600 Math+CR. However, it seems like it has gotten a lot tougher to get in. Look at this:

https://virg.vanderbilt.edu/virgweb/fb.aspx?show=2</a></p>

If you go to Peabody Undergraduate admissions, the acceptance rate dropped from 29% in 2009 to 18% in 2010. Also, the SAT score range shot up (75% went from 1460 to 1520). This supports my hypothesis that Vandy is an SAT focused school, but I could be wrong. Anyone know why selectivity increased so dramatically for Peabody?

Historically (I mean since around 1999/2000), Vanderbilt had always made a point of emphasis of OVERLOOKING test scores to see the real applicant. The word you probably hear most often being associated with Vanderbilt admissions is the “holistic” aspect of the process. Who knows if they’ve made a change, but I don’t believe they would have too much.

Another thing is that, for one reason or another, a lot of Vanderbilt varsity athletes (i.e. football) used to apply to Peabody. It’s ironic since Peabody is such a good school, but that most likely helped contribute to the low test scores. They may have started spreading the athletes out to all the schools.
