Anybody been accepted/rejected from Mays or Econ?

I applied to these, j/w....Thanks. I'm still on step 3.

bump…

I got accepted to Econ with a 26 on my ACT, a 3.52 unweighted GPA, and I was 12/57 in my class.

He’s referring to transfer applicants.

Hear anything derek?

No, happydk.
Something real shady happened today. Out of Nowhere my 1st choice major went from Mays Undeclared to Gen. Studies on AIS. I called the admission counselor’s office all in a panic and I kept getting the run around because I think the guy didn’t want to tell me that I didn’t get into Mays. When I told him I didn’t care because Economics was a close second, he asked me what major did I list Econ. I told him it was my second choice major and he told me, OUT OF NOWHERE, that that’s why I’m up for Gen. Studies because Econ doesn’t except second choice majors…I’m so ****ed right now. I didn’t even get an email that they were changing my AIS.

I’ve talked to the Luis guy like 3 times, another dude once and a lady once. That’s 5 times someone in their offices saw I had Econ listed as second major and not once did anyone say anything. Plus, I’ve been all over their website and catalog and I must have missed something…Now I have 1 day to figure out if I want to go to UT, Baylor, my same CC or wait it out for TAMU AGAIN.

Check this link, man…it describes Liberal Arts and doesn’t describe Econ as being special.
[College of Liberal Arts](http://admissions.tamu.edu/transfer/WhyAggieland/UniquePrograms/Colleges/art.aspx)

There are lots of majors that will not be 2nd choice. Architecture is the same way. If you had visited the college and spoken to the Economics dept in person, they would have told you this.
It isn’t really shady, it is a tool. It is a way for them to get students that want to be in their college and have a serious purpose in selecting their major.
I am sorry this happened to you - but you can do the same thing from Genreal Studies as you could from Economic - change your major once you have a few hours under your belt.

I’m really sorry to hear that man. I hope it all works out for you.

I would expect that from architecture, but not econ. That’s unfortunate luck. Hey, just look at it this way: You have a lot of good schools to fall back on if this does not work out.

One more thought.
At New Student Confrence you will have a chance to change majors. You could do cange into Economics at this time. I do know they state in the NSC materials that the only majors you cannot change INTO at NSC are Mays and Architecture.
At NSC they will know exactly how many students have accepted their admissions and you could change into Econ.

If you got accepted to UT, go there.

I hope your right then, klparker. I expected not to be considered if you apply second choice for business, engineering or architecture. But never Econ…

jrt, I really want to go to UT but, I took the Business Sequence of Cal and UT’s Econ doesn’t accept a single class. I would have to start over with a 3 semester sequence and take 4 semesters of foreign language.

Does anybody know how hard it is to get accepted Gen. Studies?
I have 30 transfer hours before this semester with a 3.8 and 39 hours after this semester with probably 3 A’s and a B this semester.

Thanks, everyone…

If you do get into general studies, which is very likely, all you need to do to internally transfer into Mays is have a 3.0 GPR on 30 hours of TAMU coursework without exceeding 75 hours total. With 39 hours, you’re still in the game.

do you mind me asking what your second choice was, happydk??
