I have to deal with a curfew when my mom is at home. She demands I be home by 10 on week nights and 12 on weekends. For some reason she inists on seeing me when I come home. I don't understand it. The strange part is that this didn't start until after prom. I had 11th and 12th grade where I came home at any time of the night with no problems. For some reason for the past year she's gone crazy about when I come home.

Besides, parties get too crazy after 1:30

lol 10 char :P

venkat its probably because she misses you.

I don't have a set curfew but sometimes randomly my mom will tell me "be home by 12". But that's only if I tell her I'm with someone other than my best friend. She adores that girl...

The town i used to live in, Edmond, OK had it too but nobody really cared all that much attention to it.
Edmond has started to crack down on stuff a lot more. You know the repuation Warr Acres police had? Yeah, don't hang out there late at night if you're under 18. A girl I met actaully got arrested for it at 1:10. They are harsh.

usually a second offense.
Nope. They don't care. Revenue is revenue. It's supposed to teach us a lesson.
For some reason she inists on seeing me when I come home.
My mom does that to make sure I'm not like wasted or on drugs. She is kinda obvlious.

BTW, sorry for the mistakes above, I had my wisdoms cut out and I'm on drugs.

Aww, I hope you feel better soon. Hang in there.

My town in FL has a similar curfew. One of my friends got in trouble for it a few years back. We were over at a friend's house, and at about 1:00 he said he needed to go home for whatever reason. Someone there jokingly said he'll get arrested for being out that late, but I guess it jinxed the situation since he got some kind of ticket for it. He wasn't allowed to hang out with us either after that lol.

^^^

i'd bet it had to do with the driving restrictions FL has if you're under 18

No, this kid walked home. Plus, no one EVER gets pulled over for driving late. The cops can't see in at night or see past the tinted windows to get a good judgment on how young the driver is anyways.

I had a curfew when I went home freshman year. Home by 11:30 or the car keys are taken away. I strolled in at 12:30am during spring break and couldn't do anything for the last four days of it because I didn't have a car and we lived out in the country.

I stayed at school that summer and haven't gone home for more than a night or two since. I love the freedom of being at school and being able to go out and party with my friends here without worrying about getting the wrath from my parents.

"...I mentioned my bro and she's like "he's a boy and you are a girl, totally different'"

Wowwww I would not let my parents get away with sexist ******** like that. My brother and I have exactly the same rules (or lack thereof).

Edit: I just mean my parents wouldn't hear the end of it.

I used to had to deal with a curfew. But since I followed it for a long time, and never came home drunk or high or anything, she trusts me a lot more. She still gives me a curfew, but it's not big deal if I come home late.

It's a tradeoff when you come home from college, now I understand why a lot of college students just travel or stay at their university for summer school rather than go home. My parents are fairly relaxed in that I don't have a curfew but they still keep tabs on me and ask where I'm going and what I'm doing. Also I can't have parties at the house or many friends over. It'd be nice if I had parents who let pretty much anything goes (within reason). At our age, as in well into college, an apartment might be preferable.

it's really not that ridiculous..i'm certainly more cautious going places alone than my boyfriend is or than even his younger brothers are, and that's important because it's more likely that something terrible could happen to me as a woman.

^I agree. It's really not that sexist.

Idk. If my brother was allowed out until say 2 am and I had to be in at 11 or something, it totally wouldn't slide.

Women are easier targets. It's a known fact. Is the big guy more likely to rape you or your brother? Is he more likely to try to steal your purse or your brothers wallet? Besides, how often do you hear of some woman doing those things to men?

Shouldn't the boys be getting punished for the mistakes of their gender though, not the girls? Shouldn't guys have to be in at 10 pm because they might rape a girl or something?

It's not always a guy under 18 that decides to do that. Grown men don't have curfews. It's not about punishing a certain gender, it's about trying to ensure their safety.

Sorry if my argument is like incorrherent--I'm still on meds and totally can't think.

Eh asian parents. I dont even think its that sexist since guys do technically have lesser chance of getting raped/kidnapped probably than girls.

On other issues though, I do totally flip out. I got into a huge fight with my dad few years back because he made me cook JUST BECAUSE I WAS A GIRLL. >_< huge huge fight.

BUT STILL i hang around with like 20 people I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get raped/kidnapped anytime soon (especially because I'm sober and everybody else is drunk)
And my mom's concerned my church people might see me (my dad's pastor btw =_=;; ) but I'm not drinking or doing anything that i'm not supposed to be doing (although drinking's legal for me tsk) and I would wonder what the heck they were doing out at like 3 am anyhow @ bars and karaoke.
