Anybody else doing a late interview??

I got contacted for an interview this week! i had e-mailed the admissions office in November to ask about interviews in my country (im international), and they said they would only schedule an interview once they had reviewed my application, and if they needed anything extra...

has anybody else only been contacted for an interview recently?? esp. internationals. some people have second interviews around this time, right?

There are plenty of students who have first interviews as late as mid March. I've been an alum interviewer. Sometimes it takes that long to find enough alum to interview students even in the U.S.

Oh, was getting a bit worried.. thanks!

Actually, you should maybe be happy. Late international interviews sometimes mean they're interested.

Not international but my D has her interview this afternoon. She was just contacted a few days ago. She turned in her application in time for the early deadline for an interview.

It sounds good for you. Good luck!

Are you by chance in Romania? There were some detailed posts about interviews going on there.

@ Northstarmom : does it mean anything if an international from a country not listed on the website gets an interview.??

I don't know.

I still haven't been contacted for an interview -- this despite the fact that I've been interviewed by Columbia and Princeton ages ago and have already been accepted to Columbia and Amherst. I'm probably not going to get an interview considering how near the deadline is. Is this a bad sign?

i still haven't been contacted... but now that i think about it, i probably won't because I had an additional rec letter sent in that was written by a harvard alumnus, so that is probably close to what an actual interviewer would send in anyway (so, they wouldn't "need" to do an interview for me - they already have some sort of letter from an alumnus)

^ I also had an additional rec from a Harvard alumnus, but was contacted for an interview a few weeks ago. I think it was last week, actually...

oh, well hopefully not being contacted for an interview isn't a bad thing (i hope that's the case, at least.. i would love to not get rejected)

i wonder if sending in my application by November 30 had an impact (b/c i thought that if I submitted on or before dec. 1 i'd be guaranteed an interview)

I sent my application in early December, and just now received a phone call from a man from the Harvard Club in my county. He said that the Admissions Committee called him to interview me.... I had not received an interview prior, so this is a great surprise!

I would look at a late interview as being good: Two years ago, my DD had a very late interview. This turned out to be a very good thing as she was accepted.

^ when exactly was her interview?

I'm hoping for some kind of interview soon... I've been interviewed by all my other top college choices already: Georgetown (early interview, accepted), Penn (early) and Princeton (late; early March). Is it bad to not get an interview? I live in NJ, and a friend who lives about 25 minutes away had hers long ago, so I'm assuming that there are alum in the area...

Peytoncline,

Her interview was, if I recall correctly, on/about the 15th of March. I recall posting a question on CC asking why the interview was so late, and a couple of parents responded that they thought that this was a very good thing - and it turned out to be just that.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll get contacted in a couple of days. If I don't, then oh well, I guess. They don't interview everybody who gets accepted, so I hope I'm still in the running.
