Checked my email and saw an email sent by admissions@ucsc w/ subject as "check your portal" and got excited that I already received my first acceptance/denial.....only to see it says stuff about making sure we created an account and reminding us that they make decisions on March 17th. Got my heart pumping for no reason. :(

The admissions office love to mess with us. I bet this is their favorite time of year. Bunch of sadist.

^I second that! And yes, I totally got that email tonight and got excited for a split second- Then I realized “Nahh, there’s no way a UC would release decisions a week early!”. Of course, I receive this email the same night I was wondering why I haven’t heard from any of the UC’s in a month…Bahhhh humbug.

I got it too and I wasn’t fooled… you’re just worried.

Here it is in full for those of you interested.

"As the admissions notification date approaches, I’d like to recommend that you check your access to the MyUCSC portal at my.ucsc.edu, where you will be able to view your admissions decision starting on March 17, 2012, according to the following schedule based on the first letter of your last name (all times below are Pacific Daylight Time):

A - C beginning at 12:00 a.m.

D - G beginning at 1:00 a.m.

H - K beginning at 2:00 a.m.

L - N beginning at 3:00 a.m.

O - S beginning at 4:00 a.m.

T - Z beginning at 5:00 a.m.
Please take a few moments now to log in and make sure that your UCSC CruzID and CruzID Gold Password work. Then you will be ready to view your decision starting March 17, or later if it is more convenient. Transfer students will be notified of their admission decision on a rolling basis from March 17 through April 30. Your admission decision will be displayed through May 31.

If you wait until March 17 to log in for the first time and you experience difficulty, you might not be able to resolve it until later that day. As you can imagine, the Help Desk will be extremely busy that day, so if you are having problems with access to the portal, we strongly recommend that you contact the Help Desk as soon as possible."

I got that too. It was a bit too early for me to be fooled now, but if they send more emails later this month titled “check your portal” for reasons other than admissions it will be kind of cruel.

Guys, Don’t stress yourself so much.

It’s still early. You wont be getting any update until 3rd - 4th week of March, and that’s if you’re in the first batch of admitted/rejected. Sometimes there are people who are notified many weeks after everyone else has been admitted/rejected. Last year,I remember not hearing about UCSB until 2nd week of April while everyone else had already been notified.

I did not apply to ucsc
planned cuz I knew they will fool people.

We don’t want logic, we want false hope!

jk
I didn’t even apply to SC

@KidKrasher

Agreed 100%. Those of us who did it last year can attest to the long and drawn-out admissions process.
