mjplayer - will your son go attend usd?

He’s still waiting on a few more decisions from other schools. As it stands now, he’ll most likely be attending USD.

im still waiting to hear back from a few other colleges… but this is ranked about 3 or 4 on my list i guess.

mjplayer: is your son from the west coast/california? im from the east coast so everything tends to take at least a few days longer in the mail :(

I’m in southern california. I first found out of possible acceptance by logging into MySanDiego account. The status still shows it’s under committee review. But under financial aid award, he had been awarded Alcala Scholarship. Here’s the link to MySanDiego.

If it’s your first time logging in, just click on the “forgot password” link and you’ll be able to login. Good luck.

did anyone get into usd yet without a scholarship award? regular decision?

still haven’t heard from usd yet.

S got accepted into UCSD the other day. trying to decide which is a better fit? ucsd or usd? any thoughts?

Officially got accepted today with $20000 for the alcala scholarship
33 ACT 3.8 UW 4.4 W
Also invited to apply to honors program
Does anyone know if that’s guaranteed acceptance into the program or is there still a chance one can get denied?

^same here. S just received acceptance in the mail today with trustee scholar award and an invitation to apply to honors program.

program acceptance is not guaranteed. in 2006, 260 applied - 192 accepted. in 2007, 306 applied - 262 accepted. so there’s a good chance of acceptance?

do you think you’ll be attending usd? S is still considering it.

rebel - where are you from? did you receive the letter in the mail?

@HISbeloved Thanks for the info. USD is not my first choice, but it looks a lot nicer with a scholarship lol

@CaliBoundSB I’m from norcal and I received it in the mail today

Got in today, portal told me on the home page.

Got in today! Just found out from the portal too.

Received my letter too, $10K scholarship. YAY!

My daughtet got in early action. Just decided on USD because of great financial aid package. She was all set to go to University of Colorado at Boulder. I think she is relieved about not having to deal with the snow!

haha, know what you mean. We are Coloradoans, daughter has lots of great choices, including San Diego as well as CU, which she loves. Today we had a snow day cuz of 12 inches of snow, susposed to be 60 degrees again by Wednesday! I’d love for D to be in sunny California!!

Got accepted from NY with a $10000 scholarship!

Haven’t heard back yet. Did anyone else get accepted as a business major?

got my acceptance today in Canada!!!

@tikitiger: they don’t make you select a major the first year, you declare in your sophomore year, but looks like we’re going down the same road!

i was accepted and awarded the $20,000 scholarship.
i was also invited to the honors program.
34 ACT, 4.3 GPA
i’m really considering going, but it’s still pretty expensive even with the scholarship.
does anyone know if they do work-study programs?

Yes, work study is available but that is a “need based” federal program so you would need to qualify. There are also lots of campus jobs available outside of the work study.
The $20,000 is spectacular…basically puts the cost on par with the in-state cost for UC schools in California. Congratulations.
