"Florida State University traditionally receives more qualified freshman applications for Fall Term than we can accommodate. However, after a careful review of your application, we would like to offer you admission to the University for the Summer Term, 2009 (June 29-August 7). If you would like to accept our summer admission offer, please complete the Summer Acceptance Webform no later than February 18, 2009"

If I accept the summer term, does that mean I have to reapply for Fall 2009, or am I able to continue on? (It doesn't say that I can or can't it just says what I have up there, sans the weblink to the webform.)

and will bright futures cover the summer term? If not, I'm screwed.

unfortunately bright futures does not cover summer. however florida pre-paid obviously does and i believe u can reapply for fall '09 during the next registration wave im not sure about the reapplying but im sure that bright futures does not cover

I got that decision too... if I accept it does it mean that I accept being offered admission for summer or does it mean that I am accepting the admission offer and am planning to enroll?

I accepted it. Either that, or no FSU at all. I understand it to be an admission, not a binding agreement.

here are some quotes..

Thank you! Your response has been sent to the Office of Admissions and a receipt has been sent to your email address.

Your records will be changed to reflect your acceptance of admission for the Summer 2009 term and you will receive an offical acceptance package in the mail. Please allow five business days for this update to be made. At that time, you will be able to:

The admissions deposit and orientation payments are nonrefundable and should only be submitted by students who have definitely decided to attend Florida State University. If you are undecided, please do not pay these nonrefundable fees at this time.

Deposit payment and orientation registration/payment are due no later than May 1, 2009.

If you have any questions regarding your application, contact the Office of Admissions."

*as for me, I don't know how I'm going to afford it, I'm a great student, just went to too tough a school and the program I was in got me a sucky GPA. If I can't get the Financial AID, I'll have to go somewhere else.

*It sucks that I have to wait 5 business days before I can apply for housing. You kids complaining about slow servers can try tomorrow. I have to wait till next week cuz they don't operate business on weekends as far as I know.

So, when I apply for Summer housing in February of 2009, I keep that priority number and it carries on into the next term, or how does that work, lol

Going for summer session is a great opportunity to get ahead of the game for meeting people and getting used to it up here. The only bad part for summer session kids is that they are VERY last for registering for classes. But in the end it is worth it. Congrats again! If you guys need any help or anything just message me here or find me on Facebook, my name is Krissy and i'm in '12. (I won't post my last name lol)

It's saying the housing assignment, the literal dorm, will in no way correlate with the one you get in the fall. That's because the housing assignment you get for Fall will be the same for Spring unless you request a dorm change at semester. Therefore they need to make a distinction from Summer to Fall housing assignments.

If you get priority #1 that means you have the 1st priority number out of the entire freshman class (actually, students who have not lived in campus housing before) that signed up for housing. I believe you sign up for Fall/Spring housing before Summer housing? Either way, they'll be taking you're initial housing agreement to assign your priority number.

Just to clarify, if you get an offer for SUMMER you are AUTOMATICALLY in for FALL if you accept and attend summer. You do not have to put an admissions deposit in until MAY 1. So you have time to think about it. The only way there is a problem is if you wait and they fill with acceptances before May 1. So if you wait to pay the academic deposit, keep your ears open, and pay as soon as you decide to go.

If you are accepted for summer GET A FALL/SPRING housing priority number as that number stays with you for four years. Later, you will get the opportunity to get a summer number. Summer numbers are new each summer and are separate from fall, but will not be available until early 2009. When you go for a summer number, you are in the pool with anyone going summer, including upperclassmen. Summer housing is different--different numbers, different dorms.

We are oos. our s went last summer and it was the best thing he could have done. Being oos, most of his friends did not start college in the summer. This was a difficult hurdle for him to overcome (he thought he would be missing out on stuff at home). As it turned out, he loved starting college, his friends at home were envious and he was totally set headed into the Fall semester.

I think everyone should start in the summer. Its a real social environment, only two classes and a great way to become acclimated with the campus.

CLARIFICATION: The new summer offers are not good till MAY 1st, some are only good until Feb 18th. So if you think you might want to take it, pay the deposit. Because if you don't take it, they will offer it to someone else in the second round of acceptances.

Sunnyflorida, It won't let me apply for Fall housing at all.

It says I wasn't accepted for the fall.

"According to our records you have not been re-admitted to Florida State University for the term and year you have selected. You cannot apply for on-campus housing at this time."

My research has turned up the following: If you applied for summer and were offered a spot for summer you can sign up for fall housing and get a priority number. If you applied for fall and were offered a summer spot, your status is provisional until you pay your admissions deposit first; then after you wait 3-5 days they will update your status, and THEN you can sign on to get a fall housing priority number.

Keep trying every day until you can sign on.

And any number under 1000 is still a good number, actually.

I think FSU is doing this to get a good handle on how many offers to give at the next admissions cycle. They need to know how many who applied for fall and were given a summer admit will accept.

Congrats. An admit to FSU is an ADMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Attending summer gives you an advantage next fall when you register for spring, and you will be 6 credit hours ahead of the game. You will have more flexibility in your future schedules, and most consider it a good thing by the end of the summer.

I thought that my status was provisional until I paid the admissions deposit, but It doesn't say I have to pay the Admission deposit first.

The admission deposit fee doesn't even show up on my account statement.

I will keep trying to apply for housing every day for a week. This really sucks tho I was ready at midnight to get a good priority number.. I'll update if anything comes up

OK my bad. You don't have to pay the deposit. You just have to acknowledge the offer by completing the Summer Acceptance Webform (no later than February 18, 2009) and then they will update your status, show the admissions deposit due on the financial secure apps page (which is nonrefundable but DOES NOT HAVE TO BE PAID until MAY 1), and they will update your housing status so that you can sign on to pay the deposit and get the priority number. This all can take 3-5 days Call admissions to confirm.
