I feel really ashamed of myself because I finally am in the Top 5 in my class (630 sophomores) and I have a C in Algebra II after 1 test. Despite grades like this throughout all semesters, I always pull through in the last 5 weeks and bump all my grades up to A's. Does this annoy anybody else?

Yes…I hate when I’m applying to something and they ask for my current grades.

raises hand

Yeah, I’m not very good at keeping my grades study. Last semester, I started off in AP Euro with a 100% and then I got a 75% by midterm and then I finished it off with 93%.

Same thing is basically happening right now… just not in AP Euro and I haven’t got to midterm yet.

Take advantage of high school, in which finals are often less than 50% of final grade. Do whatever it takes to get your semester grade as high as possible so that when you have to take multiple finals back to back, you only need to study for one.

I do as well. But it’s not too much, its just somewhat nerve-wracking. In almost all of my classes, Alg 2, AP Enviro, AP Gov, and French I had within 89-91% in all the classes. Really had to do well on finals and I checked my grades every day during break last semester. Luckily I managed to get an A in all of them but I was a bit freaked out. I hate it when you’re so close to something and you just can’t get it.

I’ve had this happen so many times haha. I remember last year in Honors Pre Calc I was failing most of the semester and pulled it up to an A at the very end.

You guys are lucky the reverse happened to me freshman year - I had A’s in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th marking periods of geometry, and a B in the 3rd. It averaged out to a B+. Woe is me :P

LOL, no, my grades stay in the same range for the whole quarter - they may start off as 100’s and then dip to 90’s, but they only ever move between 90-100 – but one of my friends who is prone to procrastinating basically bombs his classes up until the last moment where he miraculously brings them up just before the grading folders close. Last quarter he had a 14 (a 14!!!) in AP Literature for the entire quarter up until the last week where he passed in all his work and brought it up to an 87, LOL. That type of stuff would give me heart palpitations.
