In the end of September, I will be attending Ohio State. I currently live three hours away. I have applied for many part time/summer jobs, but NOBODY will hire because I am moving away at the end of September. However, I NEED a job to save up for college costs. I was surprised when I got three job interviews, and all three ended when I said I would be moving away to college in the end of September. Do I lie and say I am attending the local college? I need the money..any input?

this is strange. Lots of places should hire seasonal summer people…

that said, if the places you are applying are not seasonal (like lifeguarding, summer camps, etc), then I would say you should tell them something like “at this time I am planning to work for awhile to save money, and then attend college” which is accurate, yes? If they press for a date, I would tell them a couple years. Your plans can always “change” when August rolls around.

Keep in mind you will not get hired at this place again after pulling a stunt like this, but I say do what you have to do.
