Just wondering...I don't want to come right out and ask my friend!

If your friend hasn't heard this week, might be a good sign. What instrument or major is he or she pursuing, if I may ask? As I posted earlier in the week - my son got his rejection letter on Monday. Perhaps your friend is on the waitlist. Could be, though, that the instrument or major he/she is being considered for is taking alot longer to make the final decision. My son is a violinist. Be sure to let us know what happens.. Eastman is a great school and being accepted is a great accomplishment.

She is a violinist and has applied for Music Ed. I haven't heard from my friend, so who knows? It was her daughter's first choice big time.

Sorry to hear about your son. Where is he likely to go?

Weenie - You friend's daughter probably stands a little better chance of acceptance if she's a Music Ed major. My son auditioned as a violin performance major, which is extremely competitive (but so is the Music Ed - anything at Eastman is just crazy). Let us know how she does, ok? My son is most likely going to study with an incredible teacher at North Texas. We feel fortunate that he was accepted into her studio. Would love to hear where everyone else is ending up, now that acceptance/reject letters are starting to arrive. S was also accepted to U of O, but he doesn't want to stay in Oregon and be at such a small school. We haven't seen the financial aid offer from U of O yet, so that might ultimately sway his decision, but I doubt it. He loves teacher at UNT and all that the music school there has to offer.

Congrats, violinmom, UNT is a great school. My S has a friend from his youth orchestra who is now studying horn that UNT and he loves the school.

violinmom, would u be happening to be talking about dr. rohwehr? if so, her husband the other dr. rohweher is my choir director at school.

Son will be studying with Julia Bushkova. Looks like Dr. Rohwehr is head of Music Ed. Dept. This week should be an interesting one for many students. Be sure to keep us informed of your exciting news, if there is any. (and I suppose the unexciting news as well, if you care to share that!)

As of last night my friend still hadn't heard anything...

When my son was accepted to Eastman 4 years ago he didn't hear anything until the second week of April.

My son still hasn't heard from Eastman either. He has several friends who auditioned on earlier dates and were notified (some accepted and some not) appx. 2 weeks ago. He called the admissions office today and was advised that they are busy with grad school admissions right now, and he should not expect to receive any notification until late next week. He is also still waiting on decisions from Juilliard and CIM.

Don't want to give you false hope... but if you have not had a rejection letter, that's a good sign. Could still be a wait list, however. Hope for the best! Financial aid is also a big issue. If school A offers a huge amount, and school B (say, Eastman) doesn't, then what do you do?
