Anybody else really conflicted over dorms?

Thank you for contacting our office. Housing for incoming Freshman is not based on a first come first serve basis. All completed applications received by June 1st will have the same priority.

That’s what the housing person told me. I’m guessing it isn’t first come first serve for upperclassmen which is why it’s confusing, But for all incoming freshmen, it is.

Well upperclassmen have to meet deadlines to get reconsidered for housing. Lol. Idk. It is a bit confusing butttt! Freshmen definitely get random selection… a lottery type thing.

It’s random, but you get a randomized picking number your later years. And if you’re signing up as a group, you get priority. So it’s sort of FCFS after frosh, but not really.

UHall and Third North should be your first choices.
Third North is the most social of the dorms.

I wouldn’t ever pick Founders, tbh. It has large bedrooms and it’s newer but I see zero advantages beyond that. Third North is better in almost every way.

The fifteen minute walk you’d have to do from UHall and 3N does suck sometimes, but it’s still only fifteen minutes. I guess if you value ten minutes of sleep THAT much, you can pick Hayden.

Also there’s a Dunkin Donuts in UHall that accepts meal swipes, so there’s an advantage, too. Perfect for using up leftover meal swipes on Saturday (which you’ll probably have) or for a quick breakfast.

Honestly, though. Third North or UHall.

Also: Housing used to be first come; first served. It’s not anymore. If you put in your housing deposit by the due date, you have an equal shot.

Really? This is a seismic shift from 4 years ago, where we had the most social floor in the tower and ran away with that title with a mere 3 rooms interacting.
