Anybody for sure going to UCSC?

Yeah I was like that too, but I realized UCSC will be a better fit for me. If I actually get accepted to UCSB, it’ll be a buzz kill lol

Did a transfer page for SC show up? If so I’ll most likely join it XD

Well, that’s the one UCSC created. It’s pretty cool I guess. We should create one for just the people of college confidential.

Yeah or just transfers, there are like no transfers on that UCSC page…

We can create one after we are all 100% sure we are going. I still need to hear decisions from the 3 other schools I applied to (not going to attend, but would still like to know), and I want to know how much financial aid I’m getting.

Does anyone know when we find out how much aid we are getting?

I believe when UCSC gives us our packet in the mail it’ll tell us the financial aid amount!

lol I did TAG for UCSB so I know I’ll be accepted. Only thing holding me back from UCSC is the distance from home.

Just signed up for April 12th Spring Spotlight, see what this campus is all about.

Can pretty much tell you that you’ll love it haha. UCSC should pay me, I tell like anyone I talk to at JC that they should go there haha…

Going to have to if this is the only UC I hear back from haha :(. Unless I decide on SJSU which I most likely won’t although the emphasis on the school and their football and bball pride is kind of cool. Still think UC>CSU though.

After all that hard work you have to go to a UC, unless you got to a CSU that specializes in your degree. As long as you don’t hate nature you should like SC haha.

@mrandall, Can you please elaborate on the transfer housing situation? I’m very interested in living on-campus for the first year, but I would like to live with a mix of more than just transfer students. Can you please direct me towards a website with the transfer housing info?

PS: I’ve been reading your posts and I am grateful for the knowledge and enthusiasm you contribute to this forum. You’re awesome!

PPS: Oh, and if you can’t tell by my username, I completely agree with your philosophy of going to a UC. It’s my dream!

[UC Santa Cruz - Transfer Student Housing](Transfer Student Housing)

their is the 3 places for transfers, Porter College transfer community in building A, the Village which my friend told me is in a bowl shaped canyon, basically isolated from the rest of the campus, and then University town Center, right in the middle of SC downtown but need buses to get back on to campus if you don’t plan on taking a vehicle.
My friend who just transferred 2012 quarter lives off campus and said even though you have those option you can change your affiliation, and knows of other transfers who live in different colleges not just the ones that say are for “transfers.” Which I didn’t know you can do but if you go on to the housing website although it says those 3 areas are for transfers the description of the housing themed floors are for 21+ and such so you might be able to live in an other college. Maybe.

Reading other posts from previous years, I think you can pick an affiliation and after your first quarter can try to transfer out of the transfer community dorms/apartments. Would still have to live at one of those places or off campus if not. Kind of sucks.

@MikeyRawks Thanks so much for the info!! You wouldn’t happen to also know about UCSB’s transfer housing situation either, would you?? I would be indebted for your info

PS: Do you listen to the artist Mikey Rocks?

I think I’m going to live at porter for the first year, and then move out on my own for my senior year.

look at the top right corner for the on campus housing available to transfers students.

A lot of the people also live in Isla Vista down the street from ucsb, which is where you hear about the college parties and halloween in SB.

And yeah Sir Mikey Rocks of The Cool Kids. haha

@mermaker yeah I might do the same if I go, my friends lives off campus for $400 a month instead of 1k-1.4k for housing and meals.

$400 a month?? That’s pretty cheap. Is it a regular house with roommates?

Ya 3 bedroom. Shares a room others have there own room.
