Is anybody from the Bay Area / No. California commiting to go to UIUC in fall?

yup right here bay area, san ramon

Hallelujah. i was starting to feel that my D would be the only one. Somehow, I thought there were a lot more kids from CA going to UIUC. We are from the San Jose area.

Yo im from Sac Town.. da 916..
lol
Sacramento.. u know the capital
Anyways im going towards CS.
I’m not sure if I would go to UIUC cuz of the tuition rates.
I didn’t even get the UAS so im not sure what im going to do.
Did you get into any UCs?
I got UC Berkeley spring semester..
lol

Hi There. Only applied to UCLA and Cal. Did not get into them. I am only waiting on Michigan but am in all probability headed to UIUC. Visiting this weekend.

I’m going to UIUC as well; from San Jose, California; choosing it over Michigan :]

err, the warriors lost today

Warriors must be feeling like a lot of college kids these days. Great stats (almost 50 wins) but rejected by the playoffs. I will blame it on the Webber curse. Why bring him back.:(-

yeah and trading away jason richardson when he was finally helping the team last year, for brandon wright

let us hope the nuggets choke and we win.

well i’m not from nocal, but socal, and go lakers! =]
anyways how much are you guys paying next fall for tuition and everything?

I was told that it will be approx (all total) 38K – the tuition will remain static for the next 4 years but the fees and living expenses can be revised on an annual basis. the billing is done twice a year in Sept and Feb.

aw iono if i should take 25k in loans per year, or should i just stick with ucsd for 10k a year? any thoughts? looking to go into business

Here are my 2 cents. UCSD is a great school - especially for econ (top 15) but it’s business program is new and not very well known. UIUC is a better option for a traditional undergrad program. That being said, you have to evaluate if it is worth spending the additional 25K. If you plan on getting a MBA later, it may not make much sense.

Good luck - i know this is a tough decision.

yea thanks for the input, i’ve thought of that b4. but thinking long term…say 25k a year and you times that by 4 gets you to 100k. thats 100k in debt right after graduating. that would at least take 10 years to pay off, plus i havent taken into account the grad school factor and future situation. most adults tell me its not worth it to go this much in debt for only undergrad. only thing holding me back from committing to ucsd is that i feel i’ll have a better college experience at uiuc. so iono this is going to be very hard..

sf peninsula six fifty

Can’t you get instate residency if you family moves?
They don’t have to be there permanently you know.. <just a=“” hint=“”></just>

“Whether a dependent or not, you become a resident at the beginning of the next term following your parents’ move to Illinois. Your parents must actually become domiciled, make their home, in the state of Illinois and may be asked to verify their residence. Your parents don’t need to be bona fide residents for a year.”
