anybody got deferred by Columbia

When I checked my mail yesterday, I found myself defered by Columbia, which really frustrates me. Columbia is pretty much my all time favourite. I am wondering if anybody else is on the waitlist? Could any one tell me what the chances of getting in off the waitlist? (I applied to SEAS)
p.s I saw another post. it says the acceptance rate of this year for Columbia is around 6 percent. Really that low? that's intimidating.

You weren't deferred; you were waitlisted. There's a significant difference.

Anyhow, the total acceptance rate for SEAS was 18% or so, while the College was at 8% or 9%. A lot of people have been waitlisted this year, so getting in off the waitlist is rare. Regardless, I wish you the best of luck.

yeah, I was the one who started the 6 percent rumor! Sorry! The official number as reported by NYtimes was 8.7%!

Higher than I said, but still an all-time low!

Thanks guys for the information. Looking at statistics before, approximately how many people can get off waitlist, is there a different pool for international students? I feel this year ivy's admission is soo unpredictable. Competition is fierece!!!sigh.

regular decision was around 6%, so maybe thats where you got that from
