Anybody heading to College Welcome Day?

Going on the 7th too! (:

Thanks glass_eyes! It's really helpful to know what to expect.

Is anybody going on the elventh?

Yep, I'm going on the 11th =)

FYI guys, if you go to eat in Covel, here are some things that can help your dining experience that I noticed College Welcome Day kids did not know:
1. You don't need to take a plate next to the pizza on your way in. The food is already served in plates/bowls ready for you to grab.
2. Don't touch something and then not take it. The dining staff will angrily tell you that you have to take what you touch.
3. Don't coagulate into a massive crowd of people and simply stand in someplace that looks like a line. There is more than one place to get food, and if you venture off a little to the left, you'll get more food than pasta and pizza such as a gourmet salad with pita bread or a Cuban Frita burger, which is my favorite when they make it right.
4. Do try to make the best of your dining experience by tasting a bit of everything, but don't waste a lot too. There are hungry squirrels outside of Hedrick and Covel. :)

good post mnucla!

to which i would like to add... BUS YOUR OWN TRAY!!!

see that thing next to the entrance with all the metal shelves moving around? when you're done, put your tray on it. PLEASE!

mnucla, liyana: I agree these are great tips and I do realize that we must have drove all you current Bruins crazy, but the fault does not lie with the prospies. We were not given any instruction from anyone! They hearded us in like cattle, took our ticket and said "thank you". It would have been so easy for either our guide or someone in the cafeteria to briefly explain the process so we did not feel like idiots when we went in there. You may want to make this suggestion. :)

karagon7: One step ahead of you! My friend is an Orientation Counselor and I let him know. I just thought it would help you guys out. I'm totally not complaining! I understand that you guys were just directed in there and left to go loose. You guys did not drive me crazy, I liked seeing everyone enjoy themselves. I just thought the few people who read my post would get a better dining experience. :)

It's funny to watch junior high/high school students who tour and eat at the dining hall.

At least in De Neve, the majority of the group huddle around the pizza and hamburger/fries line, and eat nothing else. Aren't they tired of seeing and eating that in high school? Some even get some ice cream before eating anything else.

The prospective students are about the same, and even some parents, but don't do this as much as the younger crowd.

and?
its all about the pizza and the hamburgers

shakes head

No.

im sorry
if it makes you feel better I waited for the ice cream until the end.

i also understand that the first time in a dining hall is rather confusing (been there, done that).

BUT i was speaking mainly to those really inconsiderate middle/high schoolers (not the new bruins) who stand in groups giggling around and think it's a high school cafeteria where a janitor will clean up after them or something. i mean, at least TRY to figure out what to do. don't take over a whole table, finish eating, look around in confusion, giggle and leave your trays there

so yah... i know admitted bruins prolly aren't like that. but i do get fed up with the endless parade of non-college students who have no clue whatsoever...

Boelter Hall, I noticed that too.
It surprised me one day, however, when I noticed a small group of elementary school kids become overly excited of the fruit section at Covel. A couple girls grabbed some bananas and apples and went over to get salad. I wonder where they came from...
