Yeah, Frop is right, even if you have enough degrees to have an AA, you still apply as freshman. But if you have over 45 credits, your running start grades will have more weight than your high school grades.

Would it be obvious for me to point out the UW has a soft spot for ESL/Asian students. That seems to be the one characteristic of all these under AI 70 admits so far.

If your talking about my friend I wouldnt call him a "soft spot." He speaks 4 languages fluently (French, Japanese, English, and Chinese). He told me that he had a cum gpa of 2.9 his Freshman year. He basically raised his GPA by taking 11 classes CONCURRENTLY his jnr year (full HS schedule and 22 credits in Bellevue C.C) and winded up getting 4.0's in all of them except his chem class.

mmboys instead of trying to point out why some pple who got in shouldn't ve gotten in I would try to ask why they might've gotten in. I understand that it's frustrating as a parent to watch all these pple who have lower stats than your daughter get in but remember your d hasnt been rejected yet (and I know that she will not). Just try to sit back and relax because worrying about things like this won't make things any better.

Oh yeah. okay. When I tell you guys, you're going to be like, omg, this person got in. I have low gpa and low sats. 3.5/1010, but i sent in my act, 22. I heard ppl say UW don't care about APs, but in total, I took 4 APs (including this year), and a variety of honor classes. my ECs are great, I think this is what helped, and I think my essay was good. So hey, if I got in, so can most of you.

And I worried a lot too. I was like, oh man, it's been so long, I will surely get rejected. But I didn't. So don't worry. Just don't think about it as you wait.

As a mother who has gone thru the UDub application process 3 times (out of state), I have begun to wonder about the wisdom of giving ANY information out to UW applicants re: their status. Though I think Admissions is trying to be helpful, I am distressed at how much angst it causes everyone as they try to "figure out" the system. Since we were not so computer literate when my first 2 went thru the process, we just waited until late March for S's notice...and figured that EVERYONE was waiting that long. Older D got a pleasant surprise in December--totally unexpected. And so I surmised that you were either accepted very quickly or waited til "the end". For the most part, I think that still IS the process,(though I am surprised at the acceptances these past several days)--I do not believe that the UDub has a rolling admissions policy.....exceptional students get in early, but most wait just as long to hear as they would at most other large public schools.
My youngest, applying this year, was lucky enough to hear from the UDub early on, but is waiting for notice from several other big public schools....and hasn't heard a word from any of them since she applied. NO status reports/No feedback via computer--nothing. Maybe that is the easier way to do this.....a little information can be a dangerous thing. Regardless, good luck to all. Go Huskies.

mmboys: I'll have an AA from a local community college this June from a local college. Currently I'm a senior in high school and sophomore in college. Sorry about the confusion.

As the returns roll in I am increasingly understanding the feelings of those I know who had Ss & Ds rejected in the past few years. All of them had better GPAs and SATs than those recently accepted who have been posting here. While it may be encouraging that a person with a 53 AI just got accepted, I do not take it as certain that my d with her 64 with get in. I have seen this pattern now for a few years. I now believe that all those in CR are seen by admissions as equals regardless of GPA or SAT; and the SUBJECTIVE factors play a role that is cloudy at best.

Somebody with a 53 AI got in? Who? I have a 54...and a lot of other factors to be considered in CR, so that gives me a little hope.
And mmboys: I really think you need to stop worrying so much. Your d has a 64 AI...thats very good! Although it doesnt qualify for automatic admission (barely, it's very close), it is still excellent, and will probably give her a big boost in CR. In CR, they scrutinize academic rigor...has she taken honors/AP? If so, that will count in her favor. Does she have strong EC's? That will too. And finally, the essay. I'm sure it's wonderful, I really am (from what you've told us about her). I just know she should get in.
Its me that I'm worried about...I just really hope that my essays, community service, international experiences/dual continental living (Ireland and America, discussed in my essay), passion for journalism, EC's (I have a fair few good ones), and decent SAT score (1260-690 V, 570 M) will all help me in CR...I just really hope we all get in.

i got accepted today!

missouri, 1350, 4.0uw 5.0w, male, white

Those stats are so low though! Your essay must've been really good =P

i dont know if that was directed at me seven but i also dont know if you were being sarcastic (hard to tell on the internet)! I have no idea what washington typically takes but it is a relief to be in there

i now just have to wait to hear for the others

btw congrats to everyone that has been accepted

:p He was being sarcastic, speedhunter.

I'm sure that you've been accepted to whatever colleges you applied for...

Hey, it's not a final decision, but it's progress. What do you guys think? Any chance? I sure hope so...

Heh, did you call them up iwantuw?

yeah, I did, and the lady said that my application HAD been looked at, and my file was complete and that they had registered that. So, they ARE in the process of looking at my application, and that i should receive a letter by April. Gosh, I'm sooo nervous now, I seriously am so desperate to get in. I truly hope I do.
Anyone else here who hasn't gotten in yet, or has everybody already gotten in?

Still waiting, 65 AI, instate.

Yeah, just goes to show a phone call never hurts :D

that is just so strange that you're still waiting frop...i mean, you are just right on the border of auto-admit. i wonder what's taking them so long? You didn't apply late did you? Like mmboys said, if you don't get in, i'd definitely assemble a case for appeal. with 65 AI, instate...you really need to get in.

I think that all frop needs to do is call up UW and find out what the deal is with his application. He's pretty much in with his stats so...

me on the other hand...i'm pretty nervous. Super hopeful, but nervous. Odd thing is, when I talked to the people at the UW, they said that they didnt admit by AI...what a joke. Of course they have auto-admit if your AI is high enough. They wouldn't have time to give everybody a comp. review.
Everybody, please keep your fingers crossed for me...i just HAVE to get in.
