Yes that’s what they said at Atlanta auditions on December 15 - everyone would hear by early January. So far my son has received mixed news – acceptance to a BA-MT program at St. Mary’s; acceptance to a BFA-MT program at South Dakota, and two wait-listings in top tier (Rider and UofArts). He really loved the people from Point Park so we are keeping our fingers crossed for good news in the new year. Merry Christmas everyone!

We did get her academic letter on Monday and an honors letter today, but I guess since they are closed for the holidays we will have to wait till January to know the important part–Theatre dept. decision! Best of luck to your son! My daughter has been acceptanced to MT programs at Ohio Northern and Univ. of Tampa so fair. Rejected from a few of the top ones–TX State, OU, BW. Still more auditions and callbacks Jan-Mar.

Woo hoo! Just learned today he was accepted into BFA-MT program at Ohio Northern. Did you letter from ONU come in packet from Admissions office? This was not one of his top choices, but he had a callback from them at National Thespian Festival and really liked the people he spoke with. I think that to have acceptance of any kind this early in the audition season is phenomenal. And yes…we have 8 more auditions in the coming months. Best wishes and keep me posted!

Congrats to your son! Yes it was a packet from admissions. My daughter also loved the people from ONU when she auditioned. Not her first choice either. This is such a long hard process-- even worse for girls because the odds of getting an acceptance are so low. She actually loved University of Tampa (which she has an acceptance at). It is a BA but --loved the chair of the dept., the campus, and the area. So I guess it is nice to know she has someplace to go that she can see herself at just in case she does not get in one of her other top choices. She would really love an acceptance at Point Park. We will see. We also have more auditions after the New Year.

My DD won’t be auditioning until NY Unifieds but was accepted academically and got the letter with instructions to put in the 350 tuition deposit. I don’t understand how that works because the common app had us sign that once we send in a tuition deposit to any school that the other schools have the right to withdraw our applications. Since there may be another school that we will feel they are in this tight situation with until we hear from auditions and financial. I really don’t understand how we are supposed to handle this especially where PPU wound up retracting admissions from accepted students last year. Damned if you do, Damned if you don’t?

Yes we received the same letter about tuition deposit, but the recruiter at the Atlanta audition assured everyone that it was not required until May 1. I know I’ve read on here that there were problems with this last year…but it sounded to me like they were well aware of this and wanted to stress the May 1 deadline was exactly correct. I will not do anything financial without an artistic acceptance.

I agree we will not be sending $$$$ until an artistic acceptance and scholarships $$$$ is known. I think it may be worth sending once an artistic acceptance is received even if you are not 100% sure that is where they are going. I think the deposit is refundable if you change your mind before the May 1 date.

Yes, I agree, mtgirl2013. If we get an artistic acceptance, I will be more than agreeable to put down a tuition deposit. It’s one of my son’s top choices anyway, so the refund policy is just a bonus. Definitely would not worry about it, however, until that good news arrives in the mailbox!!!

If any of your students really intend to attend the BA MT program at PP, especially females, send in the deposit after academic acceptance to hold the spot pending artistic acceptance. Read our posts about what happened last year. In my D’s case, she received academic acceptance right after the early application was filed, also her invitation to Honors and the biggest scholarship offered, but she didn’t audition until LA Unifieds in February, so I didn’t consider sending money. Her artistic offer came within a few days after Unifieds, but by that time, they had already filled the whole female MT class. Fortunately, she had many wonderful options having cast a wide net. This scenario affected many females though last year.

Anyone hear any more news from Point Park this week regarding December auditions? My son has moved them to top of his list and I’m hoping for some news before we move into rest of audition season!! Hope everyone has had a great holiday season.

mcpcwhite I talked to admissions last week and she said they had processed the results and that letters were going in the mail Thurs. or Friday so my guess is everyone should get a letter regarding artistic decision one way or the other by Monday or Tuesday. I can’t remember, did your S already get the academic letter of acceptance in the mail? Hope we both get good news this week!

Yes he received his academic acceptance back in October…waiting is agony. :)

mcpcwhite - I got your message but don’t have enough posts to reply to you. But the same as mtgirl2013 said, we were told a letter went out the 3rd and received it Saturday - so hope you get some good news soon! :)

So excited great news in the mail today—D accepted to MT at Point Park!! Still have several auditions to go but great to have another acceptance to a really great program. Need to visit campus.

Congratulations!!

Wow - mtgirl2013 – Congratulations on your fantastic news!!! Am hoping for same. No letter today…but son auditioned in mid-December. Was hoping for some good news in the mailbox to cheer him while recuperating from a nasty bout of food poisoning yesterday!!

I auditioned in Atlanta, as I live here haha. But, I found out last week that I was wait-listed. That’s way better than a rejection! :)

sammydavisjr8 - how did you find out? I called the conservatory admissions office on Thursday and they told me the Atlanta audition letters wouldn’t even go out until this week! Did your status change on PointWeb?

I was sent a letter last Wednesday I believe? But, I do believe that winter break interfered with that because it was dated for December 20th. 5 days after the audition. And I’m pretty sure my status didn’t change on pointweb.

mcpcwhite my daughter has a friend that also auditioned in Atlanta and got a letter wait listed. Maybe that will be great news for your S-- maybe an acceptance. They have to do more with an acceptance letter which includes scholarship offer! What is his status on point web? Hoping for the best for your S!!
